    Any iPhone experts here?

Where is a good place (prefer Wellington/Hutt valley but further afield is ok) to get an I-phone restored/reset/reloaded. My daughter has an I-phone 3G 16G (an oldie but a goodie) that *may* have been jailbroken by a previous owner, or, more likely, her teenage son being clever.
It was working fine, but now displays the USB connector -> Itunes icon. I've tried restoring it with Itunes, downloaded all the appropriate .IPSW files from Apple, another .IPSW from Whited00r, at least four versions on Redsn0w, plus anything else that looked promising (TinyUmbrella, iREB r5,) spent far too long Googling and now I admit deafeat. Restores always end with unknown error 1015.
Latest redsn0w keeps failing with a USB connection error.

Getting it back to factory standard would be good, or even back to jailbroken, if it would work.

    Is it totally beyond salvage?

    TIA

If you have IOS7 devices backed up on your itunes it wont accept i-phone3 found this out when Voda gave me a lone Iphone 3g it came up with what your describing..

Maybe best to set up a seperate itunes acc just for that device...its where Apple have us over a barrel really.

    best of luck,

It's a shitty 5 year old phone that will probably cost more to fix than it's worth. Flick it off on Trademe, and some dumbass will pay you surprisingly decent money for it.

You're right - There are broken 3Gs that people are asking silly money for. whether they get it or not is another story.

But I'd like to fix/have it fixed because dumping perfectly usable stuff goes against the grain with me.

Do some research on line, there is a way to reset the phone by holding down buttons, I can't remember which but have had the same issues a while ago and it does work, but I can't remember how it was done, a google search will tell u.
Don't judge me based upon your ignorance.

Jail break it again. It's easy as shit. I bought a 3g off trademe brand new but it was running an iOS it couldn't cope with. So I jailbroke it and installed an older iOS to make it run faster.

Go to google, search "step by step how to jail break". Follow the steps. Took me about an hour all up. I think I used a program called snowbreeze

fully charge the cunt. Take the battery out overnight. Put it on power with batt in, in the morning, find 'factory reset' in the menu and do it.

I would love to know how to take the battery out of an iPhone. Lol.
Assuming the battery could be taken out. It wouldn't help since it would still be fully charged in the morning
What's the point of fully charging before taking it out too?
    Your post makes no sense

you can get the batteries out. Id suggest searching 'how to replace i phone/pad/wank battery replacement'.

The point is the pcb has no power overnight, resets shit.

The point in having it plugged in and fully charged on the reset is for the charge controller to calibrate to full capacity.

    'lol'

It was a bit of a battle but its working now. iREB to get into DFU mode, then iTunes to load Whited00r unlocked. The key was to go back to an old version (11.0) of iTunes, apparently latest iTunes checks hashes with Apple, (which the older versions didn't) so any hacked software would then fail.
Next thing will be to go back to an older version of modem firmware which apparently speeds things up a bit.

first real exposure to the Apple way, been interesting

"Take the battery out overnight" implies it is easily removable. Which is not the case at all.
pcb having no power overnight has no bearing at all. You would literally need to have no power for a very long time to have the effect your talking about. Probably months.

Having it plugged in and fully charged is likewise pointless, the iPhone reads the voltage and knows what the battery capacity is regardless.
Having it plugged in or fully charged and not plugged in would make no difference.

    Lol
