We haven't really seen a combo of good bike and rider in pre 89's yet so they're only a couple of secs quicker at the moment. i don't know of a pre 72 doing better than around 1.53ish...

Given how John's gone at HD, I doubt the locals will be competitive. Yes, maybe mid 1.30's for the Norfies on slicks.
Posties races up north are normally combined classes so riders are used to lapping being lapped ie at the 2012 TT at HD, times over the 40 bikes varied between 1.10 to 1.32 without incident. hardly any of the norfies have ridden modern ruapuna so locals might be surprised.

I'd point out that even at 125%, that means the slow stuff will be lapped twice in 8 laps.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pleased to see a post Classic race on the programme. Whether an all in as a support class at a national is the best way i really don't know - time will tell.
This is a clip on a post classic combined race showing the speed difference and safe passing practice. (2012 TT Hamptondowns)

I thought he must be having brake problems, just judging by how early he was getting on them.

There is no safe passing practice when you come on slow back markers and are being pursued yourself, the exception to that statement is: unless you are prepared to give up your position to accomadate the back marker, therefore, you are no longer racing.

If it is not safe to pass DON'T. Read the MNZ rule book. This is post classics not a world championship.

After it took so long to get a response, I figured I'd gotten the wrong bike, or it wasn't time to make light of things yet.

It all good. I don't use KB often and am interested to see how the GP works out.
The bike is on the mend (as is the rider), hopefully bike will be ready for classic meetings in February.
