    Neck braces

Wondering how many riders/racers wear neck braces while riding on the road/track.
What's the comfort like when on the bike?

Dont think you'll find many about. It's only been recently that neck braces suitable for road racing have been introduced. The offroad ones are too restrictive.

Fair call on them being too restrictive. Probably what people said at the time when full face helmets were introduced. But they have undoubtedly saved countless peoples lives and further injury. Also what people say when they are "just going down to the shops", or "just going for a quick ride", the weather gets warm, people leave off the safety gear. Too hot, too restrictive. Totally understandable.
Just interesting to find that some people will spend the dollars on a flash helmet, leathers, boots, etc, but not so when it comes to the neck that holds the head in place. Guess there havn't been enough neck injuries for the powers that be involved, to promote them as a viable and good safety addition to the rest of the riding gear.

Does ACC/Government feed you your daily nanny state bulshit as an oral pill or a supository?

Yes if/when the technology advances to a point that they are a viable addition to my saftey wadrobe then I will make the choice if I want to wear one. To date I have not seen a viable option.

The "powers that be involved" already have too much fucking say in how I live my life. They dont need any new ideas in the name of safety.

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

The jury is still out on the benefits. Unlike a full face helmet, where it's easy to see where the benefit is, it's not so clear cut with neck braces. The original Leatt braces have been linked with broken sternums and spinal injuries, where the impact of the helmet has transfered the forces to other parts of the body. It's obviously been countered that better a broken sternum than a broken neck, but there is the opinion that the neck is designed to flex and bend, which reduces the sudden impact force transferal. By restricting full movement, you actually create more problems than you solve.

Not wholesale addopted by the MX and SX pros, some like them, some won't wear them.
