Have they got Yamahas in there yet?
So a guy drops off a job this morning, on dissasembly it was obvious someone had done a bodge job and we couldn't fix it to the required standard so I phone him and let him know
He tells me he knew it had been patched up and requested we do the same, when I told him we had a standard we had to meet he told me he wasn't interested and just wanted it fixed so I politely informed him we were unable to
When he arrived to pick it up the one sided converstaion went along these lines
"You're just a fucking wanker I wanted one thing done and you cunts cant even do that, fucking pack of useless cunts, what a pack of fucking dickheads you useless fucks are"
Couldn't get a word in to explain the reasoning behind our refusal and he wasn't interested anyway so I just walked away and left him ranting, Branch manager said I should have just told him to fuck off and got up him but there's no point in escalating that sort of thing
I had a wof man lift the gaters and fail the fork seals on my BMW. I told him a 1938 side valve R75 has steel forks, as in not chromed and had felt washer oil seals. What comes out runs back in.
Had another fail the kin pins on my car. Told him that 1930 A7's have solid king pins and the wear limit is 1/16" vertical and 1/8" sideways at the tyre.
Had another discover if he pulled the steering wheel up and down really hard he could move the steering wheel shaft slightly on the spline where it meets the pinion. Its retained by a grove and bolt. This was in my old 66 MG.
In all cases I got the wof and it only takes a few seconds to explain what the real story is. Life is too short to be vexcated over such small things.
Ohdon't give WOF inspectors at workshops shops a blank cheque ever.
Just another leather clad Tinkerbell.
The Wanker on the Fucking Harley is going for a ride!
I'm not surprised you had issues Flip - WOF people like clean modern cars. One of my first cars was a Morris Minor - every WOF I'd be told the front wheel bearings were too loose - the nut was always set to factory sepcs which was somewhat sloppier than a modern vehicle. If you ran them tight they would shit themselves very quickly. I just ended up winding the buggers up before the WOF and resetting correctly after.
I remember it pissing off the old man as he was particular about things being set correctly.
Some years back I was getting a bike WOF at a VTNZ and a 20 something lad rolled up in a ace looking modded RX2. It was a beauty, straight body, beautiful paint, period correct fat wheels etc . The guying doing my WOF turned to me grinning said - 'well hes failed'. I asked him why as clearly a lot of time and money had gone into the RX, they reply was 'bloody boy racer'. He had just ticked off my WOF so I questioned him on his attitude - noted the car was mint and a lot of time had gone into it, the young chap had arrived with his paperwork by this time so I complimented him on the car. It turned out it was his dads pride and joy and he was getting the WOF because Dad was ill......
The inspector looked suitably ashamed.
I remember the car well as it had been painted in that vivid toxic green Ford used on early BA Falcons. One of my favorite vehicle colours.
I'm always a bit dubious of the reporting quality of Stuff, but damn that dude from Cycletreads appears to be a complete shyster who either fails spectacularly to understand his legal obligations or just ignores them. Assuming the quotes attributed to him are accurate, I'm amazed he's still in business.
