In this case I still reckon that Cycletreads could, if they so wished, have refunded the chap in question and offered him a good deal on another bike they had available. For the benefit of the positive PR if nothing else. They'd have also gotten themselves some repeat custom too no doubt.

Hopefully a fair outcome is achieved for the benefit of all parties. This will leave a bad taste in everybody's mouths if it stays as it is. Additionally this isn't the first negative report I've seen about Cycletreads and their attitude towards their customers. With the amount of competition in the area I'm surprised that they can sustain this outlook TBH.
This is a business killer. Doesnt matter who imported the bike, Cycletreads sold it as a dealer. Its been through the Tribunal.

Somebody should reach out to Treads suppliers and let them know what is going on in NZ with this guy and see what they think.

If the story is true then CT’s shouldn’t have sold the bike in the first place.

It's actually pretty serious shit if a registered dealer sells a bike without a CIN. The buyer should lay a complaint.

It seems they are not the best for tyres any more. Searching around and finding tyres are a bit cheaper elsewhere...
Their $30- per tyre fitting fee... does not help the price either, especially when their "on sale" price is still more expensive.

After reading this thread, I can't resist to share my experience with cycletreads .

I bought my bike new from this shop and recently, i booked my bike a week in advance for a 10k service on a Friday morning.

When i turned up on that faithful morning, i had to wait good 20 minutes before they can see me at workshop then i was welcomed by the grumpiest foreman ever, who started his greeting by raising his frustrated voice and asked if i have filled the form that i don't know where to get. Therefore, i asked him politely where the form is, then he replied with a frustrated tone saying that he is busy and has a few hire bike that he needs to prepare.

I got through the form ok then the courtesy bike, when i asked how long the service would take and if there is any chance of a courtesy bike that i can borrow to allow me to attend a meeting in town. He then looked his colleague in complete shock and interrogate him to see if there is a courtesy bike booked.... while they were sorting out their own internal affair, i wondered off to the other side to have a look at the accessories then i heard the man yelling over at me in "Pigeon English" saying upstairs, coffee, free........

I walked over and asked the man again how long does it take for the service, his replied was it would take a hour but cannot not work on it now. I was ok with that and i asked again about that courtesy bike by chance (I never had an answer as he was busy ripping into his colleague) then he replied in a stone cold voice "No, but you can wait upstairs and have a free coffee".... unfortunately, i had to go back to work after mucking more than a hour with nothing achieved. So, I took my key and left...

To be honest, my whole experience with this shop has never been great from buying to servicing but i would like to think their coffee must be top notch but i never had the pleasure to enjoy it....
