Honda CBR900 rr v blowing fuses

hI

fixed the carbs and motor going fine trouble is dam fuses for the warning lights

And the starter keep blowing more the warning lights which are 20 amp been

just 35k on the clock since getting her going again . seems strange to me why just started

doing this. only bit wiring notiched is loose is one black wire from right headlight which is just

sitting loose . I changed fuse got the warning lights going again and temp guage. the speedo

seems stoped also . what do you think broken wire ground . regualtor seems to be charging though bike runs fine

First notiched when rode it home in the rain and warning lights stoped working parked it

and then it just whouldint turn over nothing . i took battery out as its one from vfr 750

. then tryed today was starting (which is werid ) but warning lights i checked fuses

That are on the inside right fairing both 20 amp ones blown then swaped spare in

Then u can hear it make a poping sound after say 1 min of turning ignigtion on

and no netural high beam oil etc

The easiest option be sparky but dont have the spare money

Is the VFR battery compatable with the CBR?
...the VFRs use a 12ah battery...and Im pritty sure the older CBR900rr's use a 8ah battery (could be the cause of fuse's blowing?)

I dunno...I friggin hate fixing the sparky bits

Honda are fairly notorious for dodgy regulator rectifiers. If your reg rec is dodgy, your bits and bobs might be seeing an over voltage or too much current which would cause blown bulbs and fuses.

So definitely check it (google) or get an auto sparky to :-) good luck

as long as you have a multimeter you will be fine. Electrics is not magic, it is science and as long as you are methodical and know what you are looking for it is do-able by the average punter. I am a less-than-average punter so of course send out anything hard to someone who knows what they're doing.

Thanks yes it scares me silly but as you say its step by step knowing what to do in general.

yes looked at one on you tube this one looks good one, I have got a meter but some many diffrent settings.

Just want to able to refit fairing and leave it on for know . was thinking of swaping the vfr 750

regulator and seeing if it cured as quickest method . i got to get brakes working then the

forks seals so anything to just take pressure of.

Good news i like the bike alot it very light it pushs the front but when drive the bike it stops

doing that. omg after 30 years i might actually be coming a better rider wow ;-).
