    This guy's got some balls

This is the latest Volvo commercial is going viral for good reason. Action star Jean-Claude Van Damme takes his 53 year-old body to the next level to showcase Volvo's Dynamic Steering System. The stunt is in fact real. A Volvo rep confirmed that the spot was done in just one take, and if the actor had got a leg cramp while filming, he would have been protected by plenty of safety lines that were not visible in the final video. He also was aided by small platforms on the trucks' side mirrors that helped prop up his feet. But none of this takes away from the badassery of doing a perfect split between two massive moving vehicles.

You'd have to wait a long time for a 'Take 2' if it had gone wrong.

Impressive for the old bugger. That move was one of his signature ones when he was making movies years back (before he started smacking his girlfriends). He appears in The Expendables 2 as well and is looking fit.

Certainly an attention grabber, I want to see more about this stability reverserer, and a making of vid, of that vid.

Yeah, I'm interested to know if it's some new trick in the steering. The articulated truck only goes in a straight line though.

At the end of the vid there's a bit where the director or someone is walking VanDam through it. He uses two articulated trucks as models. Maybe that didn't work.

Trucks are going backwards. He starts off in the splits and then they come together. Doesn't stop being a freakin cool stunt and amazing that the guy's kept his flexibility.

Aside from his lack of modesty in speaking of his own personal perfection, it was a pretty good stunt.

My legs just don't do that. Never have and never will

Bit more info on those clips, tech seems pretty neat, appears to have a 5th wheel position sensor so it'll auto-straighten the truck up when reversing.

Can I have one of those 5th wheel sensors for my B-train? Some of the places I gotta back up on the blind I could use some cool tech gadget to help me...

Awesome trick from Jean Claude though, but yeah would have been even better if they'd used two artics...musta been too hard huh?

With an atric you'd have to go past VanDams leg stretch, and then back to straighten the trailer...I think. I doubt he'd be down with that sorta carry on. Or rather, he would be down afterwards.

Other way init? turn in to kick to center out, then out to straighten up, either way, his legs ain't gonna be happy unless it's done so precise that there's only a few cm movement in it; now that would be a hell of a promo vid.
