That's my philosophy. My last day tomorrow & no job to go too. Worried? Nyet. I will wake up on Saturday a much happier camper with new eyes to view my opportunities. Positively frothing with vim & vigour.
Necessity is the mother of invention, a journey of a thousand leagues starts with one step, ect ect.
I bet not once do you wish you were back 6 months ago. A chocolate fish or jar of plum jam maybe.
Oh. Congratulations! Kinda the opposite of what you hoped for but in many ways a much better opportunity.
Manopausal.
All of the above. If anyone had told me 1 month ago, we would be living in Takapuna, managing a 32 unit motel, I would have laughed myself stupid. No looking back, no regrets at all!
We will get to the North , of that I am certain. Just might take us a bit longer than right now is all.
Happy camping is what this world is all about. I don't plan to die rich, but I will die happy and rich in things that money cant buy!
Wow, congrats guys! I laughed, I cried, I am happy you pulled through and got something sorted! Sounding great!
There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those that do not.
Spent a couple of hours at our new job/abode today. Measuring up for our stuff as you do.
Even more confirmed in our decision, the beach is gorgeous! And there is LOTS of sand.
Best news of all, there is a lockable garage/shed for our bikes, and they will FIT with a bit of reorganising.
Thinking we will prolly do that before we move in.
Current managers could not be more helpful either, told us the raw truth about the place, and just what a cool job it is, the boss is a very cool bloke too from all accounts!
Sad for them, ill health (terminal cancer) has meant they have to give up the job after only a few months in it, otherwise we would have been shit out of luck we were told today.
Onwards and upwards for us. Packing and moving aside, I cant wait!
Good news Anne, and very pleased to hear it.
... and the two bikes will just fit into a storage room (once I have relocated the stuff currently in said storage room to another storage room that is) which is pleasing, were looking to park them under a porch area that would have ok but no ideal.
The beach is wonderful, I will have to vacuum the pool twice a week and skim it a couple of times a day... oh dear! what a hassle![]()
Sounds like good news all round. Irene and I are very pleased for you.

Everything is going to plan, the house is almost ready for market, we have boxes galore to contain our packing. We have thrown away a 9m3 skip of shit and have been really ruthless in our downsizing exercise. Lots of stuff given away as well.
BUT...
Why the hell is everything deciding to break and or become unobtainium all of a sudden?
Hose reel handle - broke. Tried to do fix up, bloke tries to sell us a new one. We know better! Repair is a fail, we have to go and buy a new one
Arm of Market umbrella - broke. Previous repair needs a bit of tape on it to make it secure. Black insulating tape that we always have, gone!
Finally go down the road and get a few bits and bobs for kai, come home and my bottle of wine decides to leap out of the bag and smash into a million smithereens in the foyer! FFS! It went everywhere! Miniature shards of glass, a full bottle of wine and no friggen mop to soak it up! Grab a towel and soak up as much wine as I can and gingerly wring it out, shard of glass embeds itself in my hand. Blood and wine flows
Finally get it all soaked up, threw the towel in the bin. No doubt they will become the new unobtainium if I keep that up
Once the remaining wine had evaporated Mark vacuumed and steam mopped the floor. My replacement bottle of wine is open and the first glass is going down a treat.
Don't envy you the packing. When I made the decision to return ASAP to NZ we reduced everything to 5 suitcases, 5 back packs and a cardboard box inside 2 weeks.
Just a thought: Maybe you should buy boxes of wine instead of bottles.![]()

We have very little to take Simon, the house is looking massively spacious, taking two queen beds/dinning room suite/office desk and filing cabnet/TV and white wear. Personal items to be included.
Shall have a wee spend up to replace a few things once in Takapuna.
PS: I have tools also, they are on the list.
Fark I have only just seen this hey good on youse two what an awesome thing to be doing you lucky lucky buggers.
Thanks Steve..
Truck arrives Friday 8am, unpacking starts at the other end around midday, maybe a few beers and pizza for tea, back to Warkworth on Saturday morning to collect the bikes and a final vacuum, maybe a couple of boxes to put in the car, then back to the Motel, maybe some more unpacking, might even get a swim in, day off on Sunday, start work on Monday.
