Congrats to you both! You have done a lot for bikers in general!
    Looks like a great choice!!!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

Thanks Rick, my 'flooring body' can now relax a bit. A whole change of pace that we can be in control of.

Sounds awesome guys. Good luck to you. Might be a good reason to have a trip up north with the family at some stage.

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

Besst wishes to you both for the new venture. You'll be able to tell us if it really is the winterless north.

...you will meet me and my girl too, before the days grow short...the Far North is a fairly magical place for me, but I have only ever seen it from the seaward side,in the main...was a fishing nut in days gone by...caught most of my most memorable fish up there...always said I would like to look at the sea up there, with a rod in my hand and a rock under me one day...cool...

I came home yesterday to so many messages of congratulations and encouragement, an email from one of the shops Mark works for who are throwing a farewell do at the Bridgey for him and it really sharpened how I was feeling about things where I work.

This is the email I sent my boss last night. He is going to be apoplectic today but I just don't care, it is only another 4.5 days working for him, I can cope with that.

    Hi Boss

I have just experienced the worst 2 days of employment at ????????? I have ever had.

Handing in my notice was a really difficult thing for me to do, I knew it would be a shock for you, given the timing and my leave commitments, it was probably the worst timing I could have come up with. It was not planned that way at all.

I never expected such a bad reaction from you though. I honestly thought you would be brassed off, but utterly supportive of the move we are making, and the reasons we are making it.

I am really proud of all the work I have done for your company, and actually feel I am leaving it in far better heart and condition than when I started. I hope you feel the same way.

I am utterly gutted by the way you have behaved since I told you what was happening.

I dont leave places I have been employed on a bad note, or with a shadow over my head. I sincerely hope leaving ??????????? wont be any different.

I am formally confirming the verbal notice I gave you on Monday morning. I am giving you 3 weeks notice as required under my contract. I wont be returning in the New Year. I need to be looking forward.

I started working for you with no training, I have no doubt there is someone like me just waiting in the wings to come and work at ???????????????. Sink or swim! Worked for us...

Be excited for us as we enter a new phase in our lives!

I hope that the next few days can be a happy/sad/funny/weird/crazy ??????????? time and not the quiet, non speaking, grumpy, pissed off time the last couple of days have been.

Thanks for trying to understand a bit better.

I am going to miss you lot! Your kids... Your beautiful wife...

Good on ya Anne. It's never good to leave on a sour note.

I guess it can be a tad shitty during the colder months but, we'll still be living at the beach. The owner said that we could (if we wanted to) close the place for a month and go on holiday...perhaps stay in unit 8?

The lady there now is 70 and she is there on her own, I don't think she ever intended staying that long, she took over around August when the previous managers vacated and moved to Te Awamutu.

It's a great place to use as a base camp for a few days, so many good roads to had up there for day trips.

Ok it's only 200kms but the Pub at Kohukohu serves up a mean feed and then stop at the Bush Fairy Dairy for a sublime ice cream on the Fairburn road.

Another ride about the same distance.. https://maps.google.co.nz/maps?saddr...ra=ls&t=m&z=11
Then there is always the cape and back...260kms.
