That kinda sux, Anne. But if the change of pace/location/activity was the reason, then no harm no foul really. Because it will just be something else now. And all will be fine in the long run. You may even go for a swim....
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Sounds like your good sense won the day, a bit disappointing for now, but who knows what exciting opportunity is just around the corner.......there's always Lion hunting in Urenui.

Sounds dodgy as and you're well clear of her. Hope her motel carries on slipping into the sea with her in it (couldn't help but notice a definite beach-ward slant on the ground floor unit I used...or maybe that was just an after-effect from the slope in my tent...or sunburn-induced heat stroke.)

Anyway it just gives a chance for something better to come along . PS rode some gravel today all on my lonesome, it was scary and exhilarating all at the same time, a few tight turns where i didn't have a clue what to do so I just slowed down and kept going. For you guys this'll be easy .
Moe: Well, I'm better than dirt. Well, most kinds of dirt. I mean not that fancy store bought dirt. That stuffs loaded with nutrients. I...I can't compete with that stuff.

    Major bummer!

Sounds like you guys have it all in perspective.

Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

Arse! We wuz heading up for a visit toady but Miss no show no showed & I had to work.

Sucks that you have been led on like that. What is the name of the owner, PM if you want?

I have to say that the books would not be spectacular. It's a short season up there & getting shorter.

Jas has offered to do you a package deal on our house in Haruru & her internet / printing business.

Just over the horizon there may be a couple of opportunities for care taking positions round here. Maintaining the property of a wealthy person. You get your own house & a pretty good salary. No bills either. Usually a new car is part of the deal & big sheds with lots of toys, too. Probably need to drive boats as well. The owners are usually only around for a couple of months over the year.

I only received your txt a day or so ago. My personal phone has been redundant since i got the work one. Sorry for not replying.
I've resigned any hoo. It's rubbish.

Sounds a bit of us Mark & we would certainly be interested in a job of that nature. Must have a catch up soon, we are at camp until the 18th, home for four days to clean the house out, put it on the market and then back here for long weekend. We have a game plan, but like all games, the rules can change without notice.

There is small camp ground on Puketona road that looked an ok place to settle for a bit, as is the one at Omapere but that's a bit isolated. We were in Paihia on Thursday, parked outside your old place of work (the interent café)

What's the hap with your bikes? Figured out I become part of the great unwashed on 25th Jan & intend doin some rollin.

The care taking jobs are never advertised & rather special, in every sense. Two "maybe's, thinkin of's" have cropped up recently. If they bare fruit I will let you know.

If you get stuck for options you can stay here & do some "woofing".

It also crossed my mind that after the school hols you could have a wee jaunt at "The Farm".

Bummer to hear that. Seems like it wasn't supposed to be, but I'm sure you'll find something interesting quickly. (And not so far away.)

Or, now would be a wonderful time to do a motorbike tour around the world. Then write a book about it of course, to finance the next tour. Well that's the theory at least

Oh yeah! I could just about afford to get my bike fettled, get it over to Aus & do my dream Simpson Desert ride. Then come home on a piece of drift wood & beg for food into my retirement. It has a lot of appeal. Not being sarcastic, I mean it. If I was single I would probably do it. Already asked the girlfriend to have a go. Yeah? Naaaah. Not sure about the drift wood bit.

Winds? Pffft! Winds are for the needy. You underestimate the awesomeness that is the mighty turtle.

I think I'm one of only a handful of people in NZ who have actually ridden a turtle.

Me and a friend were snorkeling by green island, great barrier up in Cairns. I found a turtle, about 45cm wide, fairly big. My friends phone was in a waterproof case, so we took turns videoing each other playing with the turtle, petting its shell etc. Then he took ahold of it's shell as it slowly swam. I got a bit of video of that, then I gave the phone to him and had a ride as well. It was a very slow ride, and I can't hold my breath long, but a turtle has pulled me through the water.

    I win.
