Petrol flowing out of hose?

I bought a bike a couple of weeks ago. Suzuki VL250 2011. I've been taking it out everyday for practice, (having to learn a totally different bike !) I went away for two days. Got the bike out today for a ride, key on/ignition light on/firing ok, but not starting, so I thought I'd give it some choke.. BUT.. it wont start. So I turn everything off, and head back inside.. whilst removing my helmet/jacket/gloves etc. I noticed fuel flowing onto the footpath. I went round to the front right hand side just underneath the fuel tank and saw a hose rapidly spilling fuel. I've turned the end of the hose up to stop the fuel flowing out. BUT dont know where the hose comes from or goes to, should it need to be reattached somewhere. I am assured that no one has been near the bike. Am I doing something wrong? Has a hose clip come off. Did I use the choke and cause flooding? The tank is half full. I am pretty new at all this. So any help would be appreciated. I am 40 minutes away from the Suzuki dealer if I have to take it in. thanks in advance

Don't try and ride it - call the Guys at Wellington motorcycles and either get them to pick it up or maybe they can fix it on the spot.

does your bike have a fuel tap? Turn it off

If it is a carb model it should do,

2 most likely reasons for fuel running
1 is shit in the float valve, needs a carb clean (fuel over filling the carb and out the overflow hose

2 is if you have just filled it and then park it in the sun the fuel expands and over fills the tank and then flows out the tank vent hose

check the kill switch before trying to start :P

Should be able to tow/push start it with a bit of effort if it's flooded, or it might be something stuck or jammed in the carb. HEAPS of vids online about dealing with such things, but it would probably be quicker for you to take it to a mechanic if you're not confident about dealing with it.

Thanks. I went online and had a hunt for fuel lines/overflow etc. I had just filled it. I thought I'd NOT overfilled it, but obviously I DID. I turned the fuel off. Left the bike to stand. And Voila.. with a bit of a hiccup it started.

Eh? I wasn't saying it like a bad thing man, I just mean there are heaps of videos that will help on the webs, like HEAPS in a good way

Good one thats how we all learn by doing good on you. if you think back to what u did

before . and take 10 mins out then go back to it usually works out
