My insurance covers any track day, I just have to let them know before I go. Only condition is I'm not racing. They would cover me for a fun day at the drags but not a meet

Both are real easy to use and come with good instructions on the box.
Buy lots of sand paper and a block.

That really depends on if you maintain them correctly on a regular basis. Given it's a half hour with a tooth brush every few thousand kms, there's really no excuse.
