Lucky you weren't doing 104kmh - you would have died...

    This just in:

Magpie Government report Holiday road toll up this year

Blaming excessive speed, birds not paying attention to low flying motorcycles and texting while flying

Minister of nests and transport promises tougher speed limits and repeat offenders will have their shiny things confiscated

Anyone know who this magpie might be?

Can someone please help identify the magpie so we can tell the sad news to the related families?

Im just trying to find out who this bird could be so that it could be finally returned to it's loved ones where they can pay their final respects and carry out it's much deserved funeral.

    May it RIP

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

If you were looking ahead instead of at your speedo, maybe you could have avoided it.

    :P

Did it get stuck on your bike or did you go back and find him/her on the road giving you the stink eye?

The "accident" was entirely preventable. I saw 2 magpies on the side of the road a few seconds before impact, then about 2 seconds before impact they flew around the road at a low level. I thought to myself "I wonder if I can hit one". I didn't try to hit it though, I just maintained my speed and line.

It fell straight off after hitting it. I stopped to check if the bird and bike were OK. It could have smashed the headlight cover, but luckily it didn't because that would be expensive.

It wasn't anywhere near as much fun as hitting a duck in a WRX at 180kmh, with a huge cloud of feathers behind me in the mirror. Duck ended up in 3 major chunks.

I had a set of heavy duty skull decorated mirrors on my old intruder... hit one of those big grey seagulls at about 90 kmh.. he came from the roadkill on the left, and hit my right hand/mirror.. even with armored gloves and knuckles it hurt like hell. The dude in the courier van following pulled up beside me at some lights just down the road and said it was the best thing he'd ever seen...
