    Cool Vespa 50 plate

    Hello fine people

I am trying to track down the impossible, a 50cc Vespa plate that is not de regestering. Any year is fine but suitably 1967ish

    Thank you

Just an FYI, scooters aren't like bikes.. No test needed.. They'll hand you a new plate over the counter with 6 months reg on it for $150.. It's not that bad a price.

You realise what you are asking for, is in fact illegal?

Take it to a TSD agent (vtnz, vinz, aa) and get it checked over by their motorcycle compliance guy, if its previously been registered you just need to prove that its legally yours (statutory decleration from a JP) and it can be registered using an MR2B form.

Its not hard, and far cheaper than being found with illegal plates.

You'll probably need to download lighting exemption paperwork but that can be found on the nzta website or on the e-virm if you ask the powers that be nicely.

Well not quite. What he needs to find is a 1967 50c Vespa that has been continuously registered & as long as he never takes it off that scoot - Job done; period plate on period vehicle. Not sure why people think that is so important.

Then build up a similar unlikely garage. When I was a lad kids rode around on PE175s, IT175s XRs etc. A few of those continuously licensed (ie not blown up 6 ways till sunday) would be quite a trick too.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
