    Bluegum bark?

This might sound like a stupid question but I figure someone will enlighten me while the rest of you make fun of me

Does bluegum bark have any good uses? I've just split a whole heap of wood at home and now have this mess of bark to clean up. Is it any good to use as kindling or should I just bin it?

You could always light a fire and find out for yourself.

Yeah just did that. The "solid" bark burns quite nicely. The "Spongy" bark from the larger rings just smokes. I put it out pretty quick, didn't want the neighbours complaining about my fires again.

Just chuck the spongy stuff in with the firewood, it will burn good. Just dont load the fire up with it or you will burn out grates and any other steel or iron bits.

In my yoof, we had a BBQ under a large bluegum, and used the bark to fuel the BBQ. Added a not unpleasant piquancy to the steak.
'Course, this was in the days when young folks were allowed/encouraged to climb FB bluegum trees and use real wood-fired flames to cook stuff outside.

The gums around here shed huge lengths of bark certain times of the year - I collect them and put them through my shredder and onto the garden. Organic matter, makes dirt.

Its also quite good at holding bluegum trees together... Although their roots could do with some redesign...
