Fucking beasts, rolling burnouts all day long. Put a wipe-able cover on the rear seat, saves the cleaning hassle when yer missus goes for a ride on the back.
I had a vtx 1800 for a while, nice bike & well built. Havn't seen any for the $8k though, there are a few vtx 1300's for that kind of price though

    Boulevard Bliss

Just picked up a Boulevard C50T from Aucks today, what a sweet ride! A third the price of a Harley, a third the running costs, and three times the reliability. But OMG, it doesn't have That Ol' Badass Brand!

And you base all that on what? You're experience?

Days and days of research on numerous forums and websites. Consistent figures all round. 25% of Harleys with major mech issues, compared to 10% of rice burners. TradeMe clearly shows the price differences. Plenty of websites too to show the differences in fuel consumption and maintenance costs.

Yeah, I took an FLHR Road King out for a test ride, felt awesome, but I sure wasn't looking forward to paying an extra $100-$150/week to keep it on the road

    Oh. An internet expert.
25%? Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut and just let people think you're a fuckwit, than open it and prove it

As I said, the RK felt nice, but not nice enough to justify an extra $100+/week.

What is this mythical $100 extra running cost you're on about?

Mainly the extra repayments due to the higher price of the HD. But also some expectedly higher maintenance costs from the higher age of the HD, and higher insurance costs.

I loved the RK, but it takes a lot of love to put that extra $$ on the table.

So what you really meant was,

"I would like a road king but I can't afford one",

    not all the other bullshit

Yeah I know, wankers ride all sorts of bikes. I don't think it's exclusive to any one type of bike. Haven't got much time for generalisations about riders of any particular brand
