Cog BMW R1100 RS intermittent firing, first gear only!

Fault on my 1993 boxer feels like fuel starvation but it only happens intermittently and only in first gear! WTF?
6 months back I changed air, fuel and oil filters, basic service stuff. ABS is tractor technology but works fine, just saying that as I have heard failure of ABS can show strange symptoms
If anyone knows of an independent mechanic in Auck who might know the Boxer inside-out, please advise. I can't afford main dealer prices or

I take my R80RT to Toby Beadle of Auckland Motorcycle services in Henderson. He is the first to admit he is no expert on BMWs but he is very good on electronics and their problems. ph 09 835 1172

    Good luck

Find an independent service facility with a GS911 diagnostic

If they don't have one of those or similar, they probably don't know what they are talking about

Are you saying it developed this fetish AFTER you did the basic service? If not - ignore the rest of the following dribble....
I don't know BMW boxer engines at all - but your symptoms somewhat remind me of and incident with a Triumph triple motor developing queer farty behaviour AFTER the owner replaced plugs and filters. He took out the OEM Triumph air filter and fitted a K&N unit - oiled. He added more K&N oil before fitting...too much oil. Starved the motor of fuel. He posted a forum plea for advice and said the filter was good - as he had just replaced that..so what else could it be.
Only saying - if you change something - and it goes bad - go back to what you did.

I had no idea about the GS911 so if Toby does he must be the mutts. Thanks, I will be asking.

Bike was fine for months after the service but I do support your philosophy.

    Fault found

Common problem is seems. Gearbox wear has the traansmission "skip" for part of a revolution, this can happen in any gear.
If anyone knows of a M93, M94 or M97 unit from a series R1100R please give me a call. 0275522322.
    Cheers
