And I can't do the tuning after it's bolted up anyway.

I read the 1975 Cycle World from when it was launched and it was the king of performance in its year. Cook Neilsen was doing 11 second quarters on their test one IIRC.
Why dont motorcyle magazines of my youth have their entire contents online, and google indexed?
I'd pay money for that shit. Ive got Cycle and Cycle world going back to 1982....

I'm in wellington briefly next weekend - don't make me come looking for you...
JJ Cobas did an endurance race spaceframe version GL1000 - I've always felt that would make a superb pre 82 joke.
Edit - looks like I was wrong on this. Could have sworn i'd seen a pic but can't find any mention of it.
I don't know much about them, other than they've got a reputation for being fairly abuse proof. But slapping a blower on on would have to be almost the easiest HP you could get.
Not sure what sort of lean angle you'd manage out of one, and gearing is bound to be a problem for track work but for less bendy work an enhanced version would be a bit different, and probably reasonably capable.

Not sure the R was a thing back then, but I've got the fancy suspenders: Racetech front end and Ohlins on the back, all 'made to measure'. Ohlins didn't offer hydraulic preload for Speed Triples but mine has that. (There are advantages to having Dr Robert living locally.)
Mind you, the Ohlins was not fitted when I took the bike to get a trade in price. I'm not giving that away.
There is a grey blur, and a green blur. I try to stay on the grey one. - Joey Dunlop
Yeah probably. Mounted fairly high too, and I suspect new wheels and 17/70/190's wouldn't be too much of a problem.
Different is always good. I followed a guy on a wing around some of the road from Russel to Kawakawa, in fact I stayed behind him for 20min, it was enormously entertaining. Never tried one on though.
