That's not patina, just a rusty old iron disc rotor under the dodgy chrome
This could be (patina by the pound) and the optimistic seller wanted $4800 for the privilege of having it drip on the garage floor.

I love that anyone thinks for a moment that factories dyno the motors at all.

They calculate that shit, and that's the figure they tell us.

I was once told Ducati dyno every bike and that's why the power figures are so much lower than Japanese bikes of the same displacement. Laughing in your then missus face equates to no sex that night it turns out.

Patina literally means surface coating. So rust or high gloss polished clear coat are equal.

I fucken hate when cunts try and church up "paints fucked" by just saying "patina".

I read in Performance Bikes that BMW do for every S1000RR motor no matter what use it is destined for. Either last month or the month before. They toured the factory, and the race shop. With pix au - a decent article that one.

Do I need to go back and put sarcasm tags on my post?

Abso-fucking-lutely! That thing hurts my eyes. For all their faults, and they were many, the standard versions looked lovely. That thing could be a monument to the death of the Brit bike industry.

Some of the "calculations" were a bit ummm basic? They'd just add a few ponies to what the opposition were claiming.

It also comes down to the engines, a lot of mass produced engines can have a fair amount of variance in their power output, especially the LAMS bikes which are built to a budget in a 3rd world nation.
The Germans had the same thing with the agreed top speed i think it was 155mph.(250kph)
A lot of the jap car imports were restricted to 180KPH. Pretty sure some bikes were as well

IMo other than the fastback, all Comandos never looked as good as a BSA or Triumph.
The new ones look great though.

From what I've seen of the late LAMS stuff, because it's all made on automated plant, production tolerances are pretty good now wherever it's made.
British stuff from postwar to collapse though varied badly.
The japs lowered it to 40 later. thats why some earlier 250/4's are faster than the flasher looking later ones.

I spotted footage of Agusta testing engines prior to install. Low figure equals not installed.

J.A.P. used to dyno all the speedway engines they built. Higher than the standard figure went under the bench for sale at a premium to "selected" riders.

Wonder if you approached BMW or Agusta, you could get a good one....

Current values would tend to suggest your in the minority. The Fastback imo is my second least favourite after the Hi Rider.

At $35K + you would expect the new Commandos to be great. Has Holeshot sold their 2015 models yet

I'd buy a new Thruxton but really can bring myself to spend 25K on a depreciating weekend toy.
DeMyer's Laws - an argument that consists primarily of rambling quotes isn't worth bothering with.
