suzuki nz imported one red SN, the owner from memory worked for them in wanganui, he didn't like the colour and changed it to blue, then when the ST came out the paint was opposite placement on the tank etc and never looked quite as good, in either red or blue.

Saw a red ST in ChCh last year. I've always liked them better than the blue cos every bastard has a blue one...
Memory says that when senior prod was GS1000's, a couple of red ones were raced.

SR kawi, Hmm. Lackey rode one in '80 before his defection and consequent title for suzuki.
Always remembered those Simmonsforks. First upside downies.
Don't you look at my accountant.

The chappy that I've been dealing with over the last four years or so (trying to get all the bits I need sorted) in Australia, has (would you believe?) 22 genuine SR's of various flavours!!!?? Including ex Lackey SR500's, ex Jobe SR500's and 250 even etc etc. Been a long road, but he's helped me no end. Need to get over there at some stage to see his collection in person!

BTW...just how the fuck do you get to own 22 bikes that in theory, should've made it into the crusher!? He won't answer me that question. But my bet is...he had a mate somewhere pretty high up in the race dept at some stage...

They (all four they built in 1983) won races on them, but no titles. Kent Howerton raced them in AMA competition, and in Europe, think it was Kurt Nichol and I canne remember the other cunts name.
I thought yours was an air cooled one?

Nah. Mines an 83 500. The KX of 83 and 84 were still air cooled though. Funny thing is, mine still uses the air cooled cases, with a modified clutch cover etc to accept the water pump etc etc

Aussie wouldn't have gotten 4 SR's a year I wouldn't have thought. Unless it was in the Gunter years or summat.

I can't be assed trying to find the mag, but they were in various displacements. late 70's ...78?
Wrangler series or something, I would say they survived as they never made many spares so they were tucked away and not on sold to lesser mortals for mx back in the day.
According to the blub Even the team couldn't get spares for the bikes the year they were made. They got a few a lot of begging.

The Boyle Bros had many Suzuki equilvs through back in the day. The diff being, privateers could buy RA's, RH's and RN's. They actually took an old RN to the tip many years ago. Oh the shame.
