In the USA in 02 they were US$22,695 - now it appears they sell around $US10-15k depending on kms. Hardly a good investment.

Coys had one in the UK estimated to go for 17 -20,000 pounds! http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/2002-duca...m-race-replica

One thing for sure - it's one of the most unattractive 'special' limited edition Ducatis I've seen (personal opinion, if you love it tug away).

And they don't appear to get ridden a lot - all had really low kms, which for a lounge bike or pure collector is probably good, but if you wanted to actually use one I'd be avoiding something that only got started once a year and ridden 50kms ...
Ducati make so many "specials" and limited editions that a casual punter has no fucking clue whats what. I think that it actually devalues the brand overall. Plus they generally are expensive POS's and fragile. I do like that Scrambler platform though.

I don't know man - this special lark sounds like a brilliant plan.

It's clear no one rides them much so you don't have to make em to last as they sit in the lounge as investments or pieces of art and you can command a premium for them!

Local Honda dealer has a nice one they did for the CB contest a couple years back still sitting in the shop - pretty sure it's listed as $17 (no doubt talk turkey after two years) and is basically brand new with warranty. And it has the coolest cow hide seat. So I'm thinking $16 on the black one is a bit high (plus I don't think it's improved a lot ....

On the link check out the close up image of the rear wheel - is that cracking of the tyre sidewall by the rim?

I never really got the appeal of Bostrom either. Sure, you had Foggy and Bayliss, Corser and Chili and heaps of riders on these machines back in the 90's and early 2000's, they all led me to wanting one for years and finally buying one too, but I just never got bitten by the Ben Bostrom Bug... That being said, when I picked up my 996S a few years back, the dealership also had a Bostrom rep (UK model, I believe) which was listed at the same value (give or take a hundred or two) as a MINT condition RC45.. For some reason, people love 'em! Personally, I'm not a fan of the Testastretta engine or the decals but hey, I don't have to buy one haha!

I can see that a bit of money and a lot of time has gone into this and the countless other lookalike bobbers but really cannot see the value...

Interesting. My theory - it has a grand plus of fruit on it (exhaust and protection) is run in, serviced and ready to thrash. Still I think they should have it $500 less than a new one (if not more).

You could get far better works of art, for your home or office, for $13k. Saw a V8 engine coffee table at a mates office. Looked so cool. Got the idea off Top Gear. Says it cost him $1,500, all in
