Have you seen what a Ducati engine of that era and decade or so after, usually looks like?

If it's hidden most people (myself included) are too lazy to clean (let alone repaint). . . . - That has most hidden.

When they came out I was well impressed.
But I was younger and somehow even more stupid.

says it's good for spares, is there a single part worth having?

A couple of those head studs look pretty clean ... the nuts holding the clutch springs also look usable .

Probably more interesting by being interesting other than anything ground breaking. I remember lots of talk when they came out - can't remember if it was good or bad other than the cab tuning.

On the 1st incarnation in 87 the twin throat Weber 44DCNF gave the bike a horrid flat spot @3000rpm (closer to a dead zone), they tamed it down in the later models but the damage/reputation was done plus they ran very hot too. Good handling (capable of matching a GSXR750J in tighter country) and comfy particularly for shorter riders

But the price is cheap by comparison to this one that's been listed for a few months now, might be the LTD version but it's only a paint job nothing else

"It all started as a very sad looking GSXR at the back of someone's garage."

It looks a fucking lot sadder now.

Ok it's shiny where you can see, but heck
I had a ride on Wendy's, of Milton & Wendy, 650 I think it was round the side of Lake Taupo a very long time ago. I remember the carb was total shit but I also remember it going round corners like nothing I'd ever ridden before.

Did I mention how much I hate steam punk. I'm trying to be positive but those studs on the muffler remind me of dirty used sex toys and could you possibly pick a worse combination of colours.

Wendy's was an early 750. Believe it gave them grief.

Makes a nice change from the endless hacked up 70's BMW's and Hondas.

Steampunk is great, loved the Oamaru Museum, I found the Penny Farthing hard to ride and my monocle kept falling out on the cobblestones.
DeMyer's Laws - an argument that consists primarily of rambling quotes isn't worth bothering with.
