If they are using WSBK to sell their bikes the desmo's higher rev limit could give them an advantage. When MotoGP were considering a rev limit Ducati were opposed because sans pneumatic valves they had an edge.

If Ducati enter a V4 in SBK I take it they lose their capacity advantage? I see the ones at Psychospot are 1103cc (and between $34,000 and $70,000).

    Correct.

The Panigale V4R will be down'ed to 1,000cc (or 998 or summat) like they have to nerf the 1,299 Panigale R down to 1,199cc

Buy a dial gauge - tools are great more the merrier.

V4 Panagile 1000R should be on the tracks next year apparently. Bet someone introduces one late in the year to a track.

I'm sure I just read that BMW is pumping out a new S1000rrrrrrrrrrr everything new on it.

Should be interesting, clearly the HP wars are stepping up.

I kind of like this F-you finger to the increasingly conservative world of motoring where cars are now advertised by how many USB ports they have and bluetooth this and that. On the reverse of this are V8 Mustangs, Hyper cars and motorcycles doing their best to extract every bit of power out of old school petrol.

And they'll be subject to the same rev limit as everyone else.

Silly man. Of course i have a dial gauge and magnet base (not as useful on right way up forks). Some discs are pretty hard to get a continuous surface. But a simple pointer will tell you what you need to know; are my discs warped?

How much are they warped? Well, we'll leave that one to the philosophy students of the group.

In my experience it's the carrier warped 90% of the time. After all, it's alloy and far more ductile than the disc itself.

The philosophy students will have a field day attributing reasons for the carrier - the slave of the system - bending....

True - but the pro factor is less parasitic drag in the valvetrain. The con is more weight.
It's apparent from MotoGP that if you can reach the weight limits, even against pneumatic valve trains, it's still a gain.

Genuine question, is there a rev limit in SBK? If they homologate a bike with a X many revs should that not be it?

Nah, they have balancing rules. Kawasaki lost a bunch of revs from last year.

These rules also apply across 300SS at WSBK. The 400 Ninja lost 2150 rpm off it's redline to keep the bikes relative.

Do you have to pull over and let somebody past if you have been doing too much winning? So like everyone gets a turn.
