Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
I was going to say No expense , expended. An unremarkable bike with some bits removed. Look at that nasty mess on the LHS engine cover. So. . . Carbs leak huh?
But then I read description, hes wasted 5k paying people to work on it. - That's not our fault and you won't get that back you Turkey!

There's no upgraded suspension or brakes, just tired old kit. Not sure I'd like to put those Comstars through powdercoating bake oven. .

moreover look at the side stand its appears to be a plank of wood.

judging by the heavy gauge wires heading from the reg towards the rear of the seat i would say its tucked up there
Where was the $5k spent - lets add, and I'll put top numbers on this:
Tune - $500
Rear loop - $300
Seat - $500
Mufflers - $250 (pair) they are generic off the shelf units
Tyres - $350 (?)
Pipe wrap - $100
Paint - $500
Assorted E-bay parts - $500
Shit that's $3k there on a $2k bike ....... no wonder the Mrs wanted it gone, nappies are expensive.
This is the classic "Well I've just added this up and it owes me $25k and I told my wife it was $18k so I have to try and sell it for that". Its been for sale for a long time....
Here's the thing: You can buy the real thing for that money. Probably not a sandcast but an early 750 in immaculate condition which should hold its value. I really like this but if I am spending $18k I am not buying that.... I may as well take my $8k CB750 ratbike out for a thrash if I want to re-live a misspent youth.
Also it has one too many cams. That CB750FA DOHC would be a decent place to start for my Freddie Spencer AMA Superbike replica though
I thought elections were decided by angry posts on social media. - F5 Dave
HDC makes a very valid point above.
The alternative view is the one that has allowed Triumph to sell zillions of 'new' Bonnies - the look with modern reliability and handling etc. But they don;t gain in value.
Hmmmm in twenty five years will a first model Hinckley be collectible.
I was out on my Commando this morning and stopped in at the Triumph/Guzzi/Norton/BMW dealer, really just to look at a RE Interceptor but alas they are only at the RE branch a world away on the shore.
Used Thruxton R's are appearing for about 17K which is in the zone for me, they had a nice red one

You know, I'm guessing they don't have a separate gearbox either. Ohh the deception. I love it when you lie to me.

Fake mid section pipes too. The headers go into a cat under the front of the engine then end up at the muffler. Well done really.
I saw those as I was lying on the showroom floor counting the spokes...only 36....not proper Briddish 40., nearly filled up my notebook before I stuffed it back in my anorak. My Triumph pen was leaking but luckily Mother had put my pocket protector back in.
Off to the shed today to get the 53 Sprung Hub Thunderbird ready to go to the market.
Its got 'real' suspension with no damping, glow worm lights, a rabbit level of vibration and other goodies.
Might see if Alibaba has Amal Throttle bodies.
