Dont destroy my illusions of the total superiority of the British bike industry
i have a A10 here i am jut starting on. it was a bitza my dad made up in the 80's with a early Plunger semi unt A10 in a A65 frame.
its about 2 inches short than a A10 so it steers pretty neutral.
i seen this pic today so fuck the purists i am going with the Jap front end. if anyone asks i will tell them its a W1.
i am building it to ride
W1 the Japanese were smart enough to copy the looks of the A10 engine but use the A65 specs.
Didnt they even have a 5 speed?
i could live with the red if the rear was as well, who am i kidding it a Norvin i would be happy to have it if it was yellow
there was a few famous red vincents
it was even an pretty rare export colour i think (yip)
there was a pommy racer sounded something like Capone or something i think.
okay this is a new one on me

Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
the first W1's were from Meguro, I have a 1958 catalogue of Japanese bikes that show the Meguro a dead ringer for the BSA, a lot of people think Kawasaki copied BSA, they didn't
dunno much about the insides really, my bike had the speedo off the gearbox, but it has had a later gearbox fitted which meant they had to fit another front wheel with a speedo drive, from the W2, got the bits to convert it back if someone wants to
Its a skate board thin seat too
Ginge
AFAIK the Meguro was a licensed copy of the BSA A7?
in about the mid 60's Mugero were then sold to Kawasaki as Henry said.
i cant see how the bikes are not coped off the BSA. when they were essentially the exact same design made a few years later following on from a licenced copy
Yes they were improved copies that were better equipped
I would be interested to see what they did with the timing side.
EDit
looks like it even had the timing side bush, but the rods at least on this one of ebay are one piece the crank must be pressed?
from the few pic's i have seen of the head looked better designed more like a A65 and the bore and stoke was over or near square.
Anyone familiar with a A series Nissans and the A series Morris will realise what the Japanese were better at than the Poms.
that crankshaft is far better quality than a BSA
My C20 Vannette had an A15 and went surprisingly well stuffed full of motorbikes. Only rust was killing it..
