Not too long ago the only reason people would buy Valiants was for demolition derbies. The old 225 slant 6 was a popular stock car motor, 245 was better but had to be sleeved to get under the 240ci limit (202 Holden piston in cyl 1 & 6 was one way)
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

The GT is 95% there. Just 95% of it looks fukd.

Jesus the re-chroming bill on one of those would scare Sam Morgan. The crank will need huge dollars I don't care if it turns over.
it's odd he shortened the swingarm 2 inches when a lot of people put that swingarm into a 250/350 anyway, i think the original 500 Cobra had a shorter arm anyway std.
IMO the bracing is better than Suzuki's original and better than the curved brace that the factory put in albeit not as pretty.
I was thinking the same thing with waterbus maybe 2g plus just for the crank. another G for the top end.
Just a few years back lots of complete gt750 engines were under $500 if you wanted to build a race bike it would be cheaper to start with an engine only
that bike looks too shitty to restore for a reasonable cost.

I love those but only the coupes. that has too many doors. Theres one in Aussie with a 2JZ and a turbo you could stick your head in which is sort of cool. I love it when old shitboxes are repowered with modernish Jap powertrains that work. Plus it makes the "purists" screech. Oh no, I want a 2V pushrod cast iron block and heads veee oight with more than 7l capacity that makes 300 horsepower and uses a dead stegasaurus every 100m. Yeah but nah.

I also drove my first Tesla today. I am fangirling like crazy right now. Do want.

Dreadful how? Never driven a V8 one, but the 225 slant was a bloody marvel to get around in. Fuck it was quick

Everything of that era is dreadful compared to our current models but, in the day, the valiant was pretty good. The 245 I drove was a gem of a motor when tuned well.

Have we reached Peak H2 yet?

    https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/m...ing/3060427611

    Listed yesterday.
I'd have to say this might sell say talked down to 30? Maybe at asking?

Point of posting is not to suggest it is terribly optimistic, just to compare with our old friend with the 'other one' who keeps knocking the price up on his tired example to avoid all chances of sale.

This one sure is pretty. If you were seriously cashed up, why not?
But how long before it starts sinking in value? (Serious question).

Or maybe just leave it idling outside James Shaws place for a couple of days for a larf..

cheers dad, we're just about to list the house for sale.
Wonder if the boss would notice $35 missing ?

It hurts to think I sold a mint Blue one in 1974 for $1200. oh well....

If all goes well you won't be bothered by the yoshie pipe going past your digs any more.

Where are you heading to when you sell? Wherever it is, I am sure you can find a space to hide a tiny triple.
As far as selling one in '74, my mate had a matched pair (500 & 750) of immaculate late model green beasties. After a ride on my GSX1100 in '81 he flogged the pair and joined the GSX1100 way of the future. I am surprised he still speaks to me.

...roughly 8000km of almost entirely highway kilometers...

...The center patch is almost at wear bar...

should be illegal to sell a tyre which is at the wear bar!

    Had a 1981 ET gsx1100,loved it then.
The 1400 I now run reminds me of it. No real HP but strong torque which suits this old fella.

Hahaha, check his other listings for used contacts and engine oil perhaps 😅
