If running odd tyre sizes keeps even one PC800 off the road, then it's worthwhile.

...at the risk of ending up a post in this thread later, I will volunteer my optimism now...I don't want to sell my '78 GL1000 because, (insert all the fucked up reasons for hanging onto a bike you don't and probably wont ride again)...

...it is a completely original GL which is a lie because it comes with the complete Vetter livery from Windjammer to all the boxes and seat, which were not part of any Honda GL1000 at the time...it runs like a dream, has a couple of rust spots on the chrome bits hanging the Windjammer, has a coke can wrapped around the exhaust balance pipe under the motor, which works really well...it needs a front tyre and after sitting for any length of time the back brake pads get a little seized on the discs...it will piss through a warrant anytime with a new tyre and next year is it's 40th birthday so it is cheap rego...what do the panel think it's worth...I'd like 4k but I'm open to advice from those who may want to take the piss or even be serious...it's hard to tell on here at times...

I'd love it but can't justify the expense at the mo. Unless I swap you my GS550 with cash your way?

The MKII's never used to be collectable, but they are becoming more so now. Still never pay you 23 K for one though. It's weird how things go. Many years ago, Z1R's weren't at all collectable, everyone wanted Z1's. Now, a nice Z1R will often collect more than a Z1.

Why does everyone have to have the 'thing to have' rather than follow their own passion?
There's a shitload of shitty bikes on our roads worth way more than this, true it's not cheap, but there's plenty of people around who if they follow their hearts and heads would rather pay for a bike that has been rebuilt to a standard like this than other shit that they look cool to their mates on.

Therein lies the problem. There are so many cunts with groomed beards out there, that have too much money, that know nothing about bikes, paying fucking stupid money for heaps of fucking shit, simply to buy into a lifestyle. Hipster MoFo's.

Sounds like an accurate description of a lot of Hardley owners.

Yeah. But at least most of them get out and ride 'em often and far.

Accurate = Park Drive tobacco stained moustache with a leather vest/jacket burdened with 856 badges from the 856 events he has attended over the years, plus the Lion Red induced waistline hanging over the faux bull denim jeans which barely covers the 1970’s etched Tan leather cowboy boots.

My memory is a bit hazy but roughly 3 or 4 months ago on TradeMe a naked '75 went for about 5k. I think. It was very tidy but had done over 100,000km.
So put a start bid of 4k to get things started and sit back and watch
High miles, engine knock, rusty chrome, worn pegs...
    Brakes as new
