Given the expensive top end new motorcycles I see on the road all the time, there is plenty of money around.
yeah i just about fell out of my secretary when i saw that, they've got a few 'collectable ducatis', i always laugh when i see an SPS. when i had my 851 duke i checked import numbers, approx half were base models and half the numbered specials, so 50% of them are 'colletable', bit like the black shadow vincent, at one stage they were selling more black shadows than rapides...

A bit if Googling says it can - speeds ranging from 140 to 170 with 'sports tuning' they all appear to back up the 100mph claim - at something like 10,000 rpm on the wee single!

I see the whole lot are Brian & Kath Barnsley's bikes the HMC founders. Kath was a nice person to deal with she sold me my FJ11 back the early mid 90s
I was shaking my head at the MHR900 for $36.5K though....felt like having a bit of a thinking of what the ol Mille would be worth now

Ah the collector bikes - I'm shit at picking them. Stuff I'd think was worth F-all becomes expensive and ones I think should gain in value don't.

MHR Ducatis - continue to gain in value. The Ducati Sport Classic family models from the mid 2000's are gaining in value and most near original asking price. I think they have become unintentionally collectible. I recall a yellow one sat in Casbolts for ages until it was suitably reduced in value to move it - bloody should have purchased it!

But that 250 post at $36k has me thinking and after reading a bit about them I'd rather own that than a $36k Graham Crosby streetfightered Z900. Some days I surprise myself!

Croz's Zeds mmm all he's doing is copying Bull Dock in Japan but for a fraction of the price & a small portion of the go fast goodies

While I can't see the ad, I gather it's a mach 1 250. I did the motor and tidied the frame on one for a restorer a few years back. Got it running and sorted jetting etc for him too. Mid 90's bog stock is it. Open pipe and changed gearing, yes, 100mph. Lovely little bike to ride. I'd have one.

I'm impressed! Thought it was impressive that my wee BR250 could do it back in the day!

in the early days of Cams racing here there were heaps of them plus the 350's Bland brought them in by the 40ft container from America.
they were quite quick but outclassed by the Honda's. The ones to have for racing were the later wide case models i think the gearbox was stronger.
Vic camp used them in the UK for his race school, he made up fibreglass seat and tank based on the works singles that Bruno Spaggiary raced most of the bikes here were converted to that trim. All the 250 and 350 were 57mm stroke so they were quite a revy motor for its day.

I'll second that. It might have to go back overseas to get top dollar. I'd like to see the rest of the collection.

I clearly like concrete mixer engines , saying that if I was a serious luddite would probably own a Harley...but I don't like tassles.
