New exhaust?

hey guys,
just wanting to know what kind of exhaust to buy for my 1996 gsf 600 bandit?
it only has the standard one,
was thinking of doing a cheaper option and fitting a coby? i can get some pipe bent and welded up

also was thinking of making up a shorty with a bent tip on the end of it, but that may be too loud?

dont want to spend too much on the exhaust.

The trouble is finding an exhaust that doesn't break the bank. Your halfway there if you have a mate who will bend up whatever you need to fit it.
All you really need from there is pipe diameter. Going up a mm or two won't hurt if you fab up a link pipe. It will make it louder and change your back pressure, so you may need to tune your carb.
Going down will strangle the bike a bit unless it is a freer flowing pipe.

Ask around your local bike shops (or even email those further away if you are happy to freight it) what they have close to the diameter you want.

Most bike shops have a few pipes they got in for customers who had to have them but never came back. Some owe them less because of a deposit being made. Some will be happy to be shot of them for what they paid for them. You don't know till you ask.

Once you have a list of pipes, make, model and their part numbers do a bit of research on pipe length shape and external diameter. Better yet Google to see if anyone has posted their experiment with your bike and the pipe you are looking at.

if you can't imagine in 3d very well make a cardboard replica and will it clear the foot pegs etc?

Don't take too long or the perfect pipe may not be available any more at the price originally quoted, expect some answers to be along the line of "I can do that for $x if you buy it this week. "

I got a delveric second hand muffler in mint condition for 100 including delivery to put on my café racer. You can get deals.
Just need search tardme daily. Search muffler and organise the search into latest listing so you just check whats appeared that day.
The delveric came off a bandit 1200 and I still have the link pipe if you want the link let me know. Not sure if its a match to the smaller bike.

Even a nice looking stock can off something that you can gut for a bit more racket.
