    Stebel horn - Decent price!

    Hey peeps

Found an Aussie retailer (onlineautoparts.com.au) that does the Stebel for a decent price. They have awesome Ebay feedback and a store in Queensland. They accept Paypal, so I went ahead and ordered a black Stebel and a wiring harness to install on my 12' bus. Will arrive hopefully next week sometime. Overall, the horn +shipping + wiring harness set me back $70.00 NZD. Will update with level of service when I receive the items.

So, if anyone needs a Stebel, looks like a good place to get it.

Yeh - loud, these are rated as the choice for bike horns..akin to a big truck horn..air horn. Good deal man. Keen to hear feedback.

+1 Got one of these from the same guys before Christmas, good wiring kit with relay and everything you need with a couple of different options on how to wire it. Good value and fast delivery, the hardest part of the whole thing was figuring out where to mount it

So where did you mount it ?
Why I ask is I would really like one but the same question arises where to mount it on the Trumpy Tbird which has a very squeaky noted horn which is very embarrassing coming from a big cruiser.

After a huge amount of head scratching I ended up mounting it inside my aftermarket belly pan, it's on a Monster 1100EVO and there really isn't anywhere on the stock bike to mount it where it can't be seen and I really wanted a 'stealth' install, so I was fortunate I'd previously purchased the belly pan! I was almost at the point prior to that where I was seriously considering chucking it on my other bike or the ute, lol!
Another option for you seeing as you have a more classically styled bike might be the chrome version: http://www.onlineautoparts.com.au/bu...elay/ZPN-01296

Not sure if that would work for you, but something to consider. Something else which may help is they don't have to be mounted dead vertical, you can go up to 25 degrees either way (see pic) hope that helps.

They have to be mounted a certain way, horn mouths down, or they don't last long.

Buells have horns that sound like an infant roadrunner. meep meep.

    It's embarrassing.

I've fitted stebels to the last two and have had occasion to be thankful a couple of times on both machines.

What's funny as fuck is watching the truckie's reaction when you honk "thanks for making room" as you go past.

I've had a Stebel on my last two bikes. I had seen negative comments about reliability a few years ago but haven't had any trouble (fingers crossed). Haven't seen any complaints hereabout from the bulk buys. I wonder if that's to do with the mouth down thing because that's how mine is. Not that I can claim any credit for that.

Wouldn't mind a pair under the bonnet of my car too.

Good stuff, definitely worth persevering with. The difference between the average feeble standard horn and the Stebel is night & day, not something I use a lot but when it's needed it's nice to know you'll actually get heard!

Well as you can see from the pic I posted, the instructions for mounting are pretty clear. They even provide a fitting for a breather hose if you do need to mount it somewhere more prone to getting really wet. A bit of common sense goes a long way as I'm sure you'd agree!

Just looked at the advert..... be very careful, there is another version to this horn (updated) which is a lot more weather resistant, i think you'll find this particular model is really for a car (under the bonnet) the more protected version has a plastic 'cap' that covers the top of the compressor that is exposed on this one,,,,,,,
