Excellent response. He's got loads of gear, though.

When I was long lining I saw a bloke in Auckland putting his forward rope over a bollard, took his eye off the ball to ogle some chick just as the boat was pushed off the wharf by a wash. Lost a few fingers, they looked like cheerios & the gulls were in like a flash. Another numpty tried to stun a shark with the butt of a long gaff.......... Stuck the hook into the side of his scone.
Shouldn't mention the guy under the fish crate when the hoist rope snapped. Skipper said "look out!" not "look up!" Bottom jaw got snapped off.

    All young guys, too.

See if you can find some photos of spear fishing mishaps. Crackin gore!

    them some beauties alright.

Seen some real good ones whilst chasing Salmon

hooked fingers are common place, ears & arms get their share too. Best one though was during the 98 Rakaia comp bloke got a face full of 120g ticer one of the barbs of the hook went through his nose so he grabs it & rips it out, blood pissing everywhere, yells some abuse at the owner of the stray ticer and carries on fishing.... plenty of peeps were going pale
Dogs getting hooked is always a show & a half......dog hooks up proceeds to take off yelping dragging hundreds of dollars worth of rod & reel over the rocks with a band of fishermen stumbling & yelling after them
Quad bikes are a regular to get washed out to sea or jetboats turning submarine from over eager fishos taking off and forgetting to screw in the drain bungs and newbs in 4x4s thinking because it's got 4wd on the side it can go anywhere lost count of how many urban tractors I've seen drowned in the river & rescued

...my friends dog, George, ate a pilchard I had baited up, rod leaning against a wall...we had a smoke and and a cup of tea, didn't notice that George was sitting immobile, statue like...one of those acid sharpened hooks had hooked him right through his top lip, and there was enough tension to keep it tight..it was like he knew what he must do 'til the dumbies with two legs figured it out...he had a relieved look when we got the side cutters out...
