    New Piaggio Fly 150 but 2012?

    So I"m thinking of selecting between the Suzuki AN125H and a new 2012 Piaggio Fly 150. Anyone have experience with a 2012 fly? Apparently it is fuel injected. The question is it worth the extra $1000 over the Suzuki. Anyone had any issues or experience, I'd be grateful to hear about it. Also seen a Aprilla SR125. Of the three, which will last me the longest with the least headache?

    A local guy has a brand new Honda Dio. within the first 1,000k he has dropped, bent and mangled the scooter. Raced it 2 up across paddocks, thrashes it at full throttle on the road. Lights have been broken, plastic cracked. They are brilliant scooters but this one wont make 2 years.

    The Suzuki would be my pick of the above.

    Is the Fly the latest model ie does it look like this?

    The Fly is a more modern design than the other two and compared with the Suzuki has larger wheels (12 vs 10), 151cc fuel injected engine, fuel tank under the floor giving much more space beneath the seat, very nice ride and handling, stylish looks, long service intervals, immobiliser, etc etc. Main drawback would be a question mark about parts being as accessible or affordable for Piaggio scooters compared with Suzuki.

    In my experience, modern Piaggios are very reliable.

    The Suzuki is a perfectly adequate scooter and there are lots of them around but it's getting a bit outdated and not in the same class as the Fly 150ie. Of course it's also a lot cheaper.

    The Aprilia is a nice scooter but why buy a 125 carby bike when you can get a 150 FI for the same money.

    Do some reading on the reliability of the Vespa LX150's, they've been running the HiPer4 motor for a while longer than the Fly. I think the Aprilia (also Piaggio) is still on the older LEADER motor - I've got one in a 2002 ET4 that's still going like new.

    It's a scooter - ie cheap transport - get the Suzuki, stick the grand you saved in the bank and start saving up for a motorcycle .......

    Yeah but he wants cheap transport with useful things like underseat storage, no oily chain, no fluffing about with gears around town instead of trying to recapture some mythical long lost era when you had a BMI of less than 30. And hair.

    I think the 'Flies' we get in NZ all use the LEADER engine. The HiPer4 is a 50 - 100cc unit. There's a new 3v version of the LEADER in the Vespa lx150ie but the NZ market Fly 150ie uses the older 2v unit updated with fuel injection.
