Hi
Does anyone know of anywhere in Auckland where I can get a wheel bored out and larger bearings put in?
My wheel has finally given up the ghost...
Cheers

the hub is fooked, and one set of bearings keeps working its way out.. failed 2 wofs on wheel movement, ate 3 sets of bearings whilst I was on my big overland trip, and have lined the outside of the bearings with thin strips of steel, just as a makeshift measure.
I don't know any engineering cos, as I'm fairly new to the city and the country, i'm wanting someone who can do it and tell me what size bearings I need to buy as replacements.

Don't have the bearing book here, can look Monday if you like. It's actually a better fix to machine the hub 3-4mm oversize and locktite in steel sleeves to suit standard bearings.
Some shops will insist the job can only be done with the hub unlaced, but it can be done assembled. Expect a $200 bill at least.
Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon
Tjebbe Bruin of Bruin engineering is a clever sort of dude and will be prob the best source of help and or advice. Any motorbike shop will help you but would probably outsource to an engineering shop anyway. No doubt you will get a good reference from some local KB,ers too. Good luck!
