There sounds like safety issues. If you are not in the union go and talk to someone from the Labour department. I think it would also be a good idea to go and see your doctor. Get a note from him/her that you suffer from migrain and that your emplyoy know about this but continues to ignore your condition.

In short this sounds like a classic case of harrasment and intimidation and you do not need this kind of stress in the workplace. This can be fixed but it has got to start from you.

Do you have a safety rep in your workplace [don't know if nz operates the same way as aus?] - if so, involve them over the meths and stereo thingys --- irrespective of what the set up is, i'm sure you don't have to do something which could be hazardous

    Find another job

Keep your chin up and don't let it get to you in the meantime - all this suppressed rage is damaging to you

    good luck!

the one thing that you have done wrong, really wrong, is start the thread as
    "SHOULD I PISS HIM OFF?"

bet you didnt bring this up at the meeting with his boss, do you get some type of power trip when you piss someone off? do it regularly?

yeh so im not as sympathetic as the hive,

i dont actaully believe that the full truth has been spread, only the doings of one guy, (her boss), i dont believe its professional an all the other stuff shes (placid) been on about to say her boss is a P head, doesnt turn up for work, takes all the credit an is a twat. that is grounds for dissmissal in my books, if its not legal then i would make you redundant.

i dont believe its unreasonable to ask an employee to stand on a chair and wipe down a board an write some new stuff on it, if meths gives you a fucking head ache dont use it, use something else. even if its not in your contract, its not like hes asking you to climb outside the 28th story an clean the windows or anything.

    and

i do believe starting a thread with "should i piss him off" shows some type of intent, an that other stuff has goen on that you will not mention where you try winding your boss up.

Shame I was too busy yesterday to read this thread (obviously not at work, but doing real stuff). I was going to suggest that while leaning over the stereo you lost your balance perched precariously on the chair, fell down on the precious stereo, and then OSH would get all interested...
Good for you in standing up for yourself. It sounds as though they have been taking advantage of you, and it sounds like your boss shouldn't be in a managerial position as he's not a manager's arsehole...
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Placidfemme, things seem to moving in the right direction now but you must keep it going to fruition otherwise its just going to stack up against you. The job must be worth saving or you wouldn't still be there. You asked this forum for help so use the responses wisely. There actually is a lot of truth in what mikey says if you think about it, don't write it off just because you don't like the packaging. Keep the dialogue going with the HR section and your bosses boss. Who holds the the other end of the golden thread? in other words who hired you? Your job is to make them successful, that is your job security nothing else. Performance appraisals usually formally occur once a year but performance is 365 days of the year. Rebuilding the relationship has to start with you because you are the only one that you can control. If you always do what you have always done you will just get more of the same. Good luck John.

    Thank you

Yeah I know, as mentioned I am still keping a diary from now on, as well as giving weekly reports to the Marketing Director about how things are going...

I get my KPI (Key Performance Indicator) yearly, the last 2 years running I've had the highest percentage (sp) out of our department... Also our KPI's need to be done by two different people, so it won't be just my boss assessing my performance...

    Thanks again

Start looking for a job now while you still have one and a good record for a reference.
Don’t wait till the shit hits the fan as I reckon it still could get worse.

As for my story – here goes.
I was asked to clean the toilet in a shop by the boss’s daughter when the boss was on holiday (In which I think the boss asked the daughter to clean them). I did say to her that I get employed to sell things and not clean things like that, I had never been asked to do it before, and she made a huge fuss about it in front of the rest of the staff. I did clean it and let the big boss know of what happened. He said he will have a chat to her or something as it was not right and it was not in my contract.
Few weeks later boss was away again for some reason and I was only asked to clean the toilets for a second time (still did them) and handed my notice in a few weeks later and have a good reference from them. I do however have to admit that already was working in a weekly job where Im working now so that made things a little easer. (Was only working Saturdays so it was pocket money)
I do fell like the boss’s daughter got the best of me as we where never the best of work mates but to bad.

As for getting onto stools etc – If im right even a house cleaner now does not have to clean anything above what they can reach while standing on the floor.
