You have two choices, do something about it or go somewhere where you are appreciated. Either option will have a lot of difficulties. Are you really mature enough to tough it out and fight it (to the end) or will you slink off into oblivion. If you choose the latter remember there will be no pay between jobs. If you are being honest about this you have a winable case. I could help you but I am too far away. Get some one who can. Do something or your heath will suffer. Work is a third of your day it is a time to enjoy and be productive. Are you sure you are not just pissing about and are worth employing? ask yourself that and be honest with yourself before you do anything. Cheers John.
Work is more like 2/3's of my day, and yes I do actually work hard and I am worth employing.

And for the record my boss came in and as usuall had a major tantrum about this...

Firstly threatened to cut my hours down (which is fine) and when I said "do what you feel you have to" and then he started abusing me (which is normal) and swearing at me, and then accused me of lying and saying that he never knew meths made me feel sick... when I tried to defend myself he swore at me and said I was getting a verbal and written warning, I told him he couldn't do both, and again to do whatever he felt right, then he had a go at me for going over his head, and I said "for fucks sake" which isn't as bad his language, and he then threatened to fire me, at which point I walked out, with him shouting from his office, went down to HR and asked to lodge a formal complaint against him...

Now he has disapeared and who knows what is happening...

This company has a "Human resource section" and employs a prick like that??? Get yourself a Rep and start doing your home work. I don't think a union rep will do you much good they're usually too preoccupied with self interest or side issues. IMPO. Get yourself an employment lawyer. Keep your nose clean and do your prescribed work to the absolute best of your ability and stay off KB during work hours. Either way you are in for a rough journey. When the going gets tough the tough get going.
    Good luck. John.

Good on you. Make sure you document what he said while it is fresh in your mind, get it down on paper and presesnt it to HR - abusing you, calling you a liar and swearing at you (make sure you write down what he said verbatim, HR are supposed to have broad shoulders and if they cannot deal with obscene language quoted in a report, they shouldn't be there) are all offences and warrant disciplinary action. Seriously stick it to him, make sure he knows that his actions and words have consequences. Get him scared for once to see how he likes it. Bring down the wrath of the HR dept on his head and threaten to take it as far as you can go unless something is done about his bullying, abuse and swearing.

If HR says they can't take it too far, inform them that you will have no recourse but to seek independant means e.g. Employment Tribunal. Set a timeframe by which time you expect to see the matter resolved.

I hope the words 'constructive dismissal' are in your vocab? Please remember in any situation like that, you are entitled to have a representitive or a witness. Does not have to be anyone official etc.

    1. Never get angry... In these disputes (and most fights) the first one to loose their cool looses!

    2. Never get into a shouting match. "I'm sorry, I disagree with you and I'm afraid that if you cannot discuss this rationally without you abusing me then you need to take a breath because you are one step away from a constructive dismissal law suit. I suggest we continue this in the HR directors office. Please make an appointment and I will call my employment consultant."

    3. Many employment lawyers will work pro bono.

    4. Negotiate. You want out, he wants you gone, whats it worth to them? Could be worth a new bike... NEGOTIATE!

    Have a look here

    Have fun and calm down.

    Cheers

See if you can find some other solvent that doesn't give you a head ache.
One that makes your pupils dilate like Homer Simpson's when he licks hallucinogenic excretions from frogs.
Then you can float up to do the high parts of the board.
