You see, our huge salaries make that seem like a bargain.
BTW what's the current exchange rate to the Hamilbuck.
On second thought, don't bother I'll consult my Forex dealer.

Speed doesn't kill people.
Stupidity kills people.
I just had a call from a woman I need to interview for an article I'm writing. She told me to call her at 10am tomorrow and just listed the number with no area code - you guessed it, she was from Auckland! I'll cut her a little slack though because she was ringing me on my mobile so she may have assumed I was a Dorklander too!Originally Posted by Wolf
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
Where the fucks that!..well, you can in Auckland, where a pissy-little cup of filter coffee can cost three bucks.
I'll stay well away
I'll stick with my Jumbo Mocha for $3.50 thanks - includes. 2 chocolate Fish and is almost a meal by itself!

Well there's only 7 cities better than us here in Auckland, and unless you speak German or French five of the others aren't so great.
Most of the work is in Auckland because that's where the greatest percentage of people are. And the greatest percentage of people are in Auckland because that's where the jobs are.
The major con to Auckland is that it is pretty much impossible to survive without your own transport. It's far too big to walk to most places, and bicycles aren't very useful for moving stuff. Most of my trips are either 25km or 10km, and that's just not feasible without powered transport.
NZ has about 4 mill people.
Nearly half of whom live in the greater Auckland Area.
I've gotta say, I don't know what all the fuss is about. I've lived everywhere except Auckland untill now. Everyone said "Don't go there! It's a shithole! Traffic's a cunt! Everybody's a wanker!"
I listened to my instincts and told them to get fucked and moved anyway. My impressions are this. The distances and travelling times are longer. Big deal. The motorcycling is better. More bikers, better roads, more variety. I've been offered jobs and assistance by people who have never met me before. I took a gamble which never paid off, made a phone call yesterday, was employed today. It's never cold. (I mean really cold)
I love the place and have met people who I now consider good mates. But then, I'm a wanker now too.![]()
Vote David Bain for MNZ president
Christchurch=Less traffic, less people, easier to get out of the city and onto decent roads, handy to beaches, rivers and ski fields, better race track( Puke is a shithole) lower cost of living (although wages/salary possibly lower as well).Originally Posted by Fordy
I've stayed in Auckland a few time and my main impression was that everyone was in to much of a hurry, the further South you get the slower the pace of life seems to be

I think I have the answer to this question...
JAFA's APPEAR to be geocentric simply because the world actually revolves around me - and I am IN Auckland.
It used to revolve around Taranaki, then Palmerston North, and now Auckland.
I get to the US from time to time too... and you may have noticed them hit the news at about that time.
Hope this helps?

By your profile you're 27 years old and living in Hamilton Lias - what would you know? And who are you parrotting when you recite that??Originally Posted by LiasTZ

People are the same every where in this country, they try and love the city that they live in and be proud of it, but some have a bad time of it and get out creating vicious rumours as they leave, while others stay and enjoy. That's the attitude I've experienced throughout my whole life living in Auckland. There's plenty of drongo's living up here as there are in the town you live in, you can't make a general comment though and say "most/all" Aucklanders are dork's as you are inferring. Come and work & live here for a long period of time and make up your own mind, never mind listening to the scorners.Originally Posted by Fordy
