    BMC air filters

Anyone here know of a place in NZ that stocks BMC air filters for a GSXR600 SRAD? Otherwise it's eBay, but that's over $US100 including shipping.

    Don't most dealerships stock them?

I got one for my SV from Wellington Motorcycles.

100inc shipping is cheap for a BMC filter. Even with conversion rate thats a good deal. I paid like 160 for my pipercross

The guys on the gixxer.com SRAD forum all say that K&N filters on these bikes are shit, and that BMC filters make the bike run better due to resonance or some shit in the airbox.

Be interesting to see if they have dyno stats to back that up, web is full of bum-on-seat opinions.

They used Uni Filters? Presuming one is available for your ride - it is interesting reading K&N, BMC, Uni Filter web sites - apparently they are all' the worlds best' !!!!!

BNC appear to be a replica of K&N - what makes them different?

Yes they have used Uni Filters. Apparently from the best to the worst, in order: BMC, OEM Suzuki, Uni Filter, K&N. My K&N is a bit crushed on one side too. OEM Suzuki is $81 from the local Suzuki dealer. I don't think they have any dyno figures to show.

How does something that spends its life in a semi sealed box end up getting crushed?

I have no idea. It's not badly crushed though.

Weird, just get a recharge kit and stick it back in. You'll get a couple of goes out of one kit, and if you're tight you can clean it with turps and just use their oil.

I've ordered a BMC filter after reading the advice about how BMC filters are apparently much better than K&N on the carbied SRADs, according to what the guys on the gixxer.com SRAD forum say. I don't really understand it myself, but it's just what the other SRAD owners say.

Nice. I have a bmc on my GSXR 600k7. Noreal increase in power without dyno time, but easier to service. In saying that, I have had great success getting dirty paper OEM filters washed at a factory specalising in wash cleaning air filters. They come back like new for about $15 each.
