This is the aftermath of someone thinking it was OK to ride in sneakers and finding out the hard way it isn't.

If it makes you think about it next time you ride, good it had the intended out come.
Give that man a DB .. good shit ... show people what can happen ..

Yeah - I could not believe how many of the dumb fuckers were on the open road to and from Paeroa on Sunday ... flash helmet, leather jacket, shorts and sandals/sneakers - no gloves .. and not all on Harleys, a few on jappers too ..

Rejoice, and return to riding with tennis shoes.

Picture turns out not to be from a motorcycle crash, but a de-gloving(socking?) caused by a forklift.

Not that reddit is a reliable source or anything, just that the OP has more than the one pic and they say forklift. Still, tennis shoes probably arent going to do much for your feet in a crash anyway.

    Jerry did it.

The steel tension wire provided a nasty way to lop off the heads of Jeep drivers and passengers. Often the wire couldn't be seen or if seen, it was usually to late to stop in time. The GI's answer for this booby-trap was the Anti-Decapitation Device, field made angle iron bolted upright to the front bumper. The device extended above the the heads of those riding in the Jeep, and at the top it is angled forward and usually notched to catch and cut the wire"

That's surely gonna be an amputation. Wear boots. Pretty easy. Crash and you still may get fucked up...but hopefully not as much.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

Also fuck, Im getting proper kevlar padded pants asap, imagine if that happened to a knee!
I've seen it happen to a knee. My brothers when he totalled his vfr into a car coming the other way while wearing jeans. Kevlar wouldn't have helped in that situation. 6 months in hospital, serious flesh eating infection, and can't bend his leg enough to ride bikes anymore. ATGATT

Nah I didn't get pics, but I looked into what was left of his knee before they took him into surgery. Scapula smashed away. missing the bottom inch of his femur.

The nurse took pics as it was a good teaching case!

He contracted Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus in the hospital. MRSA is the anti-biotic resistant bug that eats flesh and sticks to metal - which was the only thing holding his leg together.

6 months later he got out of hospital. can't ride anymore.

Like I said. All the gear all the time.

Fuck that's bad if he had to stay in hospital for 6 months. I wish him all the best.

Yeah thanks mate. if it was just the bone injury he would have been out in 6 weeks or so, but the bug was what added insult to injury (plus the isolation he then had to be kept in).

[Graphic image] So, who still rides barefoot?

thinks that good footwear is un-necessary?

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
