What a waste of police resources. I appreciate they have a duty to uphold the law and I understand exactly why they have to investigate this case - I mean a murder is a murder in anyones books. But this has all the trademarks of a victimless crime.

I just feel sorry for all the other victims in society who can't have their case looked at properly while the Ds are busy on this one. And as for the families of the cops, they're working long hours on a murder enquiry, taking time away from their families, for what reason?

Um, that might be so that they can lock up a killer, a gangster hit man. Fair enough that the "victim" is a worthless POS, who cares that he's dead? The positive side would be if the cops get to lock away another worthless POS as a result of their investigation.
