The roads were great but the weather wasnt. We went to Springs to Murchison had lunch(was warm there) started to head to Westport. Got to the junction and saw the rain coming so headed to Reefton and got a wee bit of rain in Lewis, quickly outrun that and cruised home. Had to stop again at Culverden to stretch the legs like last time. Traffic was light and one cop all the way until Liethfield on way home where a car had rolled. In all we had a great ride. Will try the ride again on a warmer day. Come along on the next one Nathan.
    Glad your day went well.

Sunday's weather wasn't looking good with the possibility of rain.

Ended up being a good ride, felt like a longer ride or it was the extreme heat every time we stopped.
We did Culverden, Leader Valley (there's still little patches of grit) to Cheviot were we stopped for some lunch then of to Gore Bay, Scargill Valley then home.

Any idea what sort of distances we would be looking at between fuel stops?

My DR tank only holds about 200k's worth.. I haven't tested it yet but that's what people seem to Recken they can get at very max..

Plenty of petrol stops. 100km max usually.

I think I should probably give this ride a miss but am damn keen to get out with you guys next week or so!

I will skip this one as I'm still a bit green to the motorcycle scene with just over 1,000ks under my belt so far.
I have done the AkaroaGP a couple of time and loved the hell out of it.
My helmet doesn't quite fit my head as well as it should and I'm still learning to trust my bike and tyres.

The last thing I want to do is to be a hinderance to the group if I am a bit slower through through the technical sections or the fact my bike is geared to happily sit at 100/110km/h but not much more than that or I will be constantly trying to use that fantom 6th gear on the DRZ. that and I'm a good little boy and don't want to get a ticket from fuzz

Couple of questions for when I do participate..
    • How many riders can be expected? roughly
    • What is the average cruising speed of the group when out in the open?

    Cheers!

All good Benign-Buz We never know whos going to turn up on the rides. Speed on the ride is the speed limit or to the road conditions. Rides like this are good for any one. Not the usual Akaroa GP(boring doing same road) or the Wed night ride which seems to be the same every week and is pretty much dead now.
Get your helmet sorted and if you want to ride -just post up here or text on numbers in OP. Cheers.
