    Road bike gear

Hi everyone I just got my first bike and I'm after some gear. Not really sure what to look for but I want some elbow and back protection I think?

    Is this jacket ok? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-701526684.htm

    Also these pants: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/moto...-700808160.htm

What brands should I avoid, what features or non features should I avoid etc, any advice will be appreciated!

Otherwise if anyone has any gear for sale that could fit
    Boots- size 10
    Jacket- size M
    Pants- size M

I'm just a poor student so just whatever you have will do I guess. I know I should invest in good gear, but I simply cannot at this point in time but I don't want to go riding in just jeans and a jumper!

Invest in good secondhand gear rather than cheap new. When you've got the bucks and know exactly what you want, buy good new if needed. That's my opinion anyway.
Some people are a bit precious about secondhand stuff for some reason though.

$180 got me 2 piece leathers. $50 a never worn textile jacket with 3 removable layers. $50 good Kevlar jeans. $80 boots. Gloves I'd buy new.

    Beggars can't be choosers

Thanks for the reply, that is exactly the kind of price range I'm looking for in terms of gear. Hope I can find some deals like that on trademe! I was thinking maybe getting leather suit but it might become a hassle when riding to uni or work.
