    SUV question

Smaller size SUV's, Honda CR-V, Hyundai, Kia or Holden Captiva ?

Toyota Rav-4, Subaru Forester, Dodge , Ford Kuga, Mazda , Suzuki , Mitsubishi ....... and the list goes on..

What would you choose from the current crop and, why ?

What do you want it for?

Commuting? Family outings only? Towing occasionally? Mainly city driving? Mainly 'open road' driving? Light offroading (skiing, fishing, exploring etc)? Car bomb? Work?

    Budget?

I'd suggest a Rav-4, mum has had a 5 door for quite a few years, all it's ever needed is 1 battery and the regular services. Early gen of fly by wire though, which isn't entirely perfect. It's really a road vehicle though, not a 4x4, but it's all wheel drive, so good grip on NZ roads.

It's about $5-6k for a set of tyres I believe. Owners find out, don't want to pay. Resale value on them has tanked.

$800 is a more normal price to pay for a set of semi off road tyres. Not too bad really and good for about 30,000km if you are hard on them. I have had several sets on my ute.

You mis-understand. I believe the Cayenne, because of it's rating, requires special tyres, possibly only one model available, specially made for the Cayenne... and yeah, they're a little expensive.
