Mercedes F10, mostly. Hilux, Grand cherokee, and at the moment I am also thrashing a mazda proceed to death. That will teach them for trying to make a 4x4.One of the worst examples of a 4x4 I have ever seen. As for being last century Bandit, thats what makes them so good, live axles, and fuck all electronics. A decent 94/95 VX landcruiser will still cost you 12 to 15 grand for a reason. Those 1HZ motors are one of the best motors you will find in a 4x4.

The proceed is just about the worst 4x4 I have had the pleasure of bashing to death in the bush. 2.6 petrol auto, wont even pull itself up some of our tracks, let alone a trailer.
It has electric locking hubs that turn themselves off when they feel like it, usually when you need them the most. The chassis has less flex than a 90 year old man, and you have to remove the motor to do the timing chain, but thats Mitsubishis fault I guess, seeing as how they make the motors for them. The only truck I have had that has been worse off road, was a ford ranger. Fucking useless off road those things.![]()

naw. The 4g will handle shit for days. Its the marvie badge that does it. I dont like the platform. I like utes. Same reason i dont like the surfs.
Ranger? like a new wanked up courier? yeah fuck them. I think top gear decided it was better to park with the brake off and wait for the earth to revolve underneath em than try driving them anywhere.
I'll keep thrashing my old terrano until it's dead, done 220k now so nice and run in, and down to residual value and not worth selling. Still passes wofs and gets me anywhere I need to go (eventually). Have no idea what I'd replace it with, I'm with the previous posts liking the lack of electronic anything in the thing.
As for euro unreliability, currently in the fleet are a 110k peugeot, a 310k peugeot and a 300k mercedes, none of which have given me any real grief. Before that I've had a saab and a vw golf, which were as good, just buy your parts direct from the UK and they're cheaper than a jappa to keep on the road.
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

Pretty rugged those older model Terranos and pathfinders. Daihatsu rugger are not bad with a few mods either, for what you pay for them.

So what your saying is Ford's are fucking useless offroad! as the 2 worst 4x4 vehicles you've driven have been Ford & Ford by a different name... Makes sense, the yanks are known for building what have to be the most useless excuse for offroad vehicles in existence when it comes to consumer grade; their military grade stuff on the other hand![]()

Some of the Ford broncos and Chevy blazers used to be capable off road with slight mods, never really had much to do with later american stuff. The jeep Grand cherokee we have is pretty shit too in the real offroad, but it is coil sprung, so has potential but its not worth spending the $$$ on. Only payed a grand for it with a fucked crank sensor $267 later and it is a reliable hack, but thirsty.
