Do you know anyone that can post one on to you? I'll do it if you can get it delivered to me within 10 days, or if you can wait until mid November I'll stick it in the container (I have no idea when the season starts and no desire to find out )

My dad does/did? consultancy for MAF etc... sometimes they fumigate suspect wood products for pests, this can take a while because they are lazy buggers.

So don't be suprised if it is held up for checking etc, but I'm not sure if they still do this for random items.

MAF only detains and fumigates suspicious wood products. There will be no problem with a brand-new cricket bat. MAF itself does not do the fumigation. An external contractor does this. At most there will be a delay of a couple of days but your wood products will be delivered to the address you specify, at your cost. But to reiterate, there will be no problem with a brand-new cricket bat.

Why not just buy one here???
There are plenty of good prices and brands. No need to screw around with importing one. Then you could negotiate with them to knock it in for you

I quote the customs NZ site "No revenue collection will be made if the total amount owing on the goods imported is less than $50."..............so basically for bats its like 7% and calclating that on a $400 odd bat turns out to be about $28...so that means i end up avoiding paying GST,etc??or is there some other clause??

Wrong border agency. MAF is only interested in biosecurity risk items. The NZ Customs Service deals with other matters involving goods.

Sooo.. given that Wolf's arse should be registered as a weapon of mass destruction, does he count as a biohazard when he goes in and out of the country?

Theres a place in otane [central hawkes bay] that make some of the best polo sticks in the world...they also make custom made cricket bats for very reasonable prices...a number of black caps use them...aswell as a aussie that I know of....if you do a web search you should be able to find a contact!
