There was an interview on radioNZ (nine to noon Wednesday april 4) with a Seattle based company that found the black (orange) box from the Air France airbus that crashed mid-atlantic. They were saying that the equipment they have, ready to go, is suited for searching at the 5km depths that MH370 is thought to be at, yet at the time of the interview, they were still waiting for the call. Meanwhile the submersible that IS being used is right at the limits of range. do they want this thing found or not?

Please spare a thought for the man who told his wife he was going on a business trip to China on that Malaysian Airlines Flight No MH370, and now can't come out of his girlfriend's flat

Having collected and dropped off many international freight consignments I can assure you the paper trail is huge and nothing gets on without being manifested or documented.
Especially a couple of tonnes of extra freight as weight is where they make their money. Anything not manifested means the airline/freight forwarders wouldn't get paid.
Hazardous goods like batteries would be a separate consignment, not packed in with a heap of other freight making emergency /inspection access difficult.

He links that to the joint Thai-US military exercise going on in the South China Sea with personnel from China, Japan, Indonesia and other countries.

''Say a participant accidentally shot down Flight MH370. Such things do happen. He suggests through anonymous and contradictory sources, they might release misinformation, leading people to search in the wrong place in an environment so hostile that it would be unlikely anything would ever be found.

''After all, no wreckage has been found in the south Indian Ocean, which in itself is suspicious,'' Cawthorne writes.

''Now I'm not saying that's what happened but if a black box is found, who is to say that it is from Flight MH370? Another black box could have been dropped in the sea 1000 miles from Perth while the search was going on in the South China Sea. In these circumstances, with the amount of disinformation abroad, it is best to be sceptical.''
