Funny how the bulk of the "social justice" policies seem to be designed to keep the recipents dependent on state handouts and voting for the parties that promise them.

I keep hearing about how capitalism allegedly needs poor unemployed types to function, when it's actually left wing parties that need poor unemployed types to keep voting them into the power to pick other peoples' pockets.
I think that you are seeing economic justice as the same as social justice - economic justice is only a small part of the wider picture of social justice ...

And what about the handouts that the right wing parties give to business??? Isn't business charity the same? Creates a dependency on the state and is against the ideas of the Free Market ...

Show me a business that recieves more from the government than it pays to them.

Show me a business that gets public support if it fails.

Any morsel tossed to what is increasingly and alarmingly called "the productive sector" is at least targeted to improve downstream tax revenue, hardly a handout and far from benevolent behaviour on the state's part.

Completely arse about face, the state is dependent on business. Business on the other hand would overjoyed at the prospect of eliminating yet another parasitic overhead.

How about he bail out of Air New Zealand? The BNZ ???

You do know that people taxpayers pay more to the Government than corporate taxpayers?

How about the tax relief offered to the film industry?

Government wage subsidies? ie "your business is not profitable enough to pay wages so we will offer you charity so you can survive economically" ... whatever happened to the free market? If your business is not profitable, how come it is allowed to survive?

Not sure they qualify as handouts. Some I don't like, but some were purely pragmatic decisions avoiding heavier losses.

Of course they do, they earn a fucking sight more than businesses.

And if they paid the same rate that businesses do they’d be paying a fucking sight more still.

How much tax do we get from films made in Australia?

Yeah, that’s not a thinly disguised unemployment benefit at all. Calling it a business handout is laughable, the vast majority of businesses that have ever made use of such subsidies damned soon gave them up, they couldn’t afford them.

And as I said, business would survive just fine in a free market without state “regulation”. The state would have a fucking sight less lollies to buy votes with, though, wouldn’t they?

    That's so funny ...

Only the last part - if businesses paid less tax there would be some less lollies - but as taxpayers pay a huge amount there would still be lollies for DonKey and his mates ...
