Care of black plastic & vinyl?

Things are pretty tight financially right now and cleaning the vinyl and plastic interior of the car and the black plastic on the bike got me wondering, Has anyone got any homemade tips for a substitute for Armoral. The headlight cases and instrument housing and other black bodyworks are getting that ' faded ' look about them.

Between the kitchen and laundry cupboards, there must be something that will protect against sun damage.

    Any ideas?.

Pledge works really well for visor cleaning, so might work to revive faded plastics
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Pledge smells nice too - the lemon is the best and makes your bike faster than the orange pledge.

We always used to use pledge for shining when i was working in the trade plus a silicon product sold by pacer called protectall i am sure it was called.
Handy Andy for un-coated alloy but wash it off thoroughly.

To make Armour-al go further use a pantyhose (f- do they still have those)as they don't soak up the armour-al.
We also used T-cut for faded plastic sometimes a heat gun works............

Agree with the above, both silicon spray and Pledge are great, though neither is a long term solution.

Just don't get the one that smells like a tart's window box - else you'll likely be blowing the "breathalyser" when a copper stops you...

theres that black coloured bumper polish. If using a heatgun, do try an out of sight area first to see how the particular plastic behaves. Sometimes this is quite successful. Sometimes a bit patchy.

Applying while the plastic is warm works best for silicone based products. Best not to get any on your brakes seat or footpegs as slippery when wet.
