    The KB Effect!

Just a thought straight from the heart...

Since I've been involved, through thick & thin, in KiwiBiker, some quite positive effects on my motorcycling have taken place! Discussing my two-wheel passion with others who share it has been most enlightening to me, to have the knowledge that others feel the same way as I do has really changed my attitude towards other riders I see on the road each day, a greater respect if you will. Also, getting out there and meeting/riding with many of you has been really good for my riding and I have seen heaps of improvements in my technique and skill level.

I'm interested in what impact KB has had on your riding, if any?

Arrow Yea, I agree there Zed.

However I'm a work in progress

    Yeah Matt....

My attitude towards other riders is definately much better, my knowledge about the bike Im riding itself is better too... my attitude towards safety has improved, yes due to KB but also due to the riders in New Zealand in general. Through KB I have met some great people who have taught me some valuable things...

Made one or two friends I treasure very much...

So all in all a good one for me!

The question is what impact has KB had on my riding......hmmmmm

Well I have witnessed "How not to ride"and "How not to bin" but also how to ride and ride safely...its been a mixed bag really.

When I upgraded and thought I had gone outside my abilities there was some awesome support from everyone on here. Both in confidence building and practical tweaking of the bike to make it fit me better. Heck ask me a year ago if I would have zoomed (ok crawled) around Taupo race track on it....answer would resemble a Tuis advert

I have learnt heaps from our rides and am still learning.

hmmmm, affect on my riding. My first thought was less riding because of time spent doing the site, but when I really think about it, I have been riding a lot more because of the KB organized rides I go on.

    Without Kiwi Biker:

I wouldn't have got any protective gear.

I would have got an RGV250 (or RZ250) as my first bike.

I wouldn't of had the faintest idea of how to ride a motorcycle... how much cages don't see you, how slippery the white paint is, the manhole covers of doom, grit from hell, demonic oil spills, to watch out for seizing 2-strokes, how to stop fast, why a motorbike stays up when its leaned over, why i should slow down for road works, slow down for traffic and slow down in general.

thankyou SpankMe for starting this site

With the passion for riding that people on this site have shown, it's actually caused me to think what biking means to me and delve back into my past experiences to see how they've affected me. By sheer coincidence, I started doing a write-up today beginning 42 years ago (blush) with what was the trigger to getting my first bike and continuing up to the present. It was supposed to be simply for my own pleasure but I'm quite happy to post it if anyone's remotely interested. Should be finished in a few days.

Yep Mr B, I'd like to hear the story of your riding life!

I also have reflected on my past experiences and that's why I can say I have seen major improvements. Some memories are best forgotten though...like the time I dropped my new Blade on it's side at an intersection when going 5kmph I let the clutch out in 1st too quickly!
