    Vitara no go

    Bought a Suzuki Vitara.. its a V6.. 2.5ltr
Just fitted a CB radio.. all good..went to start it and was complatally dead..
Everything else worked fine. lights. horn, etc.
The only thing that wasn't going was the interior light....
I have my son in law here,, who is quite good on lectric things...
Started testing things.checked all the fuses... only 1 out. the inside light.. no worries we will fix that latter.
Had this thing in a million bits. centre console out. and traced wires.. for 3 days.
Took the inhibitor of the auto.. what a job.. tested ok.....
Started to get a bit stumped. rang mechanics. local Suzuki shop.. still nothing...
    Anyone got any ideas..??
    Iam ready to burn it....................
And that is the honest truth your honour..

So there is power to everything but the starting system?

Get a rubber mallet and hit the starter motor.

So it was going prior to fitting the CB?
Was it a short stop/start run before fitting the CB....just moved from one spot to another?
If so it could be a vapour lock....remove the plugs try turning engine over & refit plugs

Or give the starter motor a whack with something

You don't have to hold your foot on the brake to let it start?

Trace the wiring to the starter and you will find the fault.

What sort of CB have you fitted?

Don't ignore the interior light fuse, my older vitara has fuses that affect random areas not listed on the fuse box... have a good look for inline fuses too, they're not all in the fuse box. Did it run when you bridged the starter motor?

My old falcon was dependent on the interior light for anything that was always on, clock, starter relay, cigarette lighter etc. Relay still clicked with fuse out but no starter action.
