Your comment starting making some sense until the 'really' x 5 bit. Idiot
So, let's suppose they were all workers, in their T-shirts, long beards, bare- footed and placard equipped. Shouting and screaming
And suppose none of them were on the benefit either .....
So ...who is their employer ? Who do they work for ?
They have every right to protest but, you can't complain unless you have a right to do so eg pay your taxes.
The people I saw today were all healthy looking ( and employable looking , I guess ) why were they off work ?
No way I could get time off to barefoot it up Queen St with a placard I made last night and look stupid wasting my time in front of a TV camera.
My boss would fire me on the spot ....
Then ignore the really x 5 bit and focus on the issue.
Why does it matter who they work for? If they have asked for a day off and they're prepared to raise an issue, why should I care how they dress or who they work for? It wouldn't serve any purpose other than stopping me from understanding the issue.
Sorry to hear that your boss would fire you for such a thing, let alone having to vet your reason for wanting a day off before granting it. Surely you've earned the day off on merit? Surely what you do in your personal time is entirely up to you so long as you're not bringing the company into disrepute (you're trusted enough to be the employee after all)... and for 5 seconds of a flash of your face on TV? You a cop? (I have no beef against cops, they should be allowed to protest also without fear of reprisals)
